    Police looking for fourth suspect in Karachi farmhouse ‘sexual assault’ case

    KARACHI:  Police are looking for a fourth suspect after an 16-year-old girl recovered from a farmhouse in Karachi recorded her statement, ARY News reported.

    According to police, the girl, who was brought to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital in an unconscious condition said that she left her home on her own free will and went to the farmhouse with the three boys who are in police custody and that they didn’t harm her.

    Police added that the girl said that there was another boy named Faizan who drugged her and attempted to sexually assault her.

    The 16-year-old was earlier recovered from a farmhouse in Gulshan-e-Maymar area of the city while three of her “friends” present on the crime scene were arrested.

    Medical report confirms sexual assault

    Earlier, a medical examination conducted by a medico-legal officer at Abbasi Shaheed Hospital confirmed sexual assault.

    “She is in a semi-conscious state but is telling us about her orderal, she said she was given a drugged cold drink. Though she earlier denied that but the medical examination proved sexual assault.

    ‘Missing for four days’

    The girl’s grandmother, uncle and paternal aunt later reached Abbasi Shaheed Hospital and told ARY News that the girl left home four days ago and has done that quite a few times in the past too.

    “Her mother has died and her father is ill and bedridden,” said the lady who identified herself as victim’s grandmother.

    She maintained that the girl left home four days ago and they were looking for her before knowing about her ordeal.

    KARACHI: Police on Wednesday registered a case against a labourer who took his former colleagues at a factory hostage over unpaid dues, ARY News reported.

    According to ARY News correspondent, police registered a First Information Report against Saleem Shahzad, a labourer who on Tuesday entered a factory in Gulshan-e-Maymar area and took at least three former colleagues hostage to demand his dues.

    The labourer has been booked on charges of terrorism, attempt to murder and attacking police force.

    Saleem Shahzad was a former employee of the factory and claimed that he was unjustly fired from his job and was not even paid three months salary by factory owners.

    “I will blow myself and my colleagues up if I don’t get paid,” Saleem Shahzad had said in a video message during the hours long hostage drama.

    He had a gun in his hand and claimed to have explosive material in his bag.

    A police team led by SSP Malir cordoned off the factory and assured him that if he surrenders his demands will be fulfilled.

    After at least eight hours of negotiation, the man surrendered himself before the police and was taken into custody. All three staff members were rescued.

    SSP Malir Munir Shaikh told media that Shahzad was fired by the factory owners at least six months ago and was not paid his three months’ dues.

    He added that the suspect handed over his gun while his bag didn’t have explosive material but just some used clothes.

    Karachi police baffled by mysterious child kidnapper

    KARACHI: Police in Karachi’s Quaidabad area are looking for a mysterious kidnapper who is abducting children only to torture them for hours before release, ARY News reported.

    According to police, at least three children aged 3, 2 and five were temporarily abducted and then released after being severely tortured for four to five hours.

    The incidents which occurred on Monday have sent shock-waves among residents of Quaidabad area’s Sherpao Colony.

    Medical reports suggest children were drugged before being tortured using electric wires and metal nails while one of the three victims was thrown off the second floor of an empty building in the area. The child, a minor boy, went unconscious after being thrown off the building but regained consciousness in the hospital.

    A police team also searched the empty building named Mian Khel Manzil after the incident but didn’t find any evidence related to the kidnappings.

    SSP Malir Munir Ahmed Sheikh said that the children had severe injury marks on their bodies adding that the criminal could be mentally ill.

    A case has been registered and police have arrested at least 23 suspects for interrogation.

    KARACHI: Police on Monday claimed to resolve the rape-cum-murder case of a seven-year old girl in Karachi, ARY News reported.

    According to Malir police, brother-in-law of the minor girl confessed to repeatedly raping and murdering the seven-year-old whose body was found from city’s Bhittaiabad area on July 31.

    The police had arrested four people including Arif Shah, the victim’s brother-in-law after the medical report of the minor proved rape, torture and death by strangulation.

    SSP Investigation Malir Abid Hussain Qaimkhani today claimed that Arif not only confessed raping the girl multiple times in the past but also confessed torturing her in order to silence the minor. A First Information Report (FIR) has been registered against the accused while a DNA test will also be conducted in order to obtain forensic evidence against the accused.

    Found from Bhittaibabad area and taken to Jinnah Hospital on July 31, the seven-year-old’s medical report was a shocker as it confirmed that minor girl was brutally tortured and raped for about a month. Her body had severe injury marks including those of cigarette burns.

    The cause of death was listed as asphyxiation due to strangulation.

    The incident is the latest in several child abuse cases in the country. Earlier this year, Pakistan was shaken by rape and murder of seven-year-old Zainab Ansari in Punjab province’s Kasur.

    Kidnapped on January 4 and found from a garbage heap on January 9, Zainab’s autopsy report suggested that the minor was sexually assaulted before being strangulated to death.

    On January 21, the Supreme Court gave three days’ time to a joint investigation team formed to probe the rape and murder of Zainab to track down the culprit.

    The JIT arrested the culprit named Imran Arshad on January 23 after the DNA proved that he was behind the rape and murder of Zainab and at least eight other girls from Kasur.

    He was sentenced to death over the heinous crime.

    KARACHI: Anti Car Lifting Cell (ACLC) of Sindh Police on Thursday released a list carrying names and pictures of 100 most wanted suspects, ARY News reported.

    Trade of snatched and stolen motorcycles has become an organised business in Karachi as a large number of people involved in this crime are on the loose.

    Talking to media in the megalopolis, ACLC chief SSP Asad Raza said the said suspects were involved in stealing and snatching of motorcycles.

    He said posters of the pictorial list were pasted at different public places including all the police stations and public institutions.

    “The list also gives people awareness on how to avoid motorcycle theft,” he said.

    Raza said the suspects belonged to different areas of Karachi and Balochistan. They would conduct criminal activities with the help of their abettors, he said.

    The ACLC chief said the Anti Car Lifting Cell had carried hundreds of raids in last few months and around 8-10 shootouts took place between criminals and police.

    “Since January 2018, over 300 criminals have been arrested and put behind bars,” he said.

    He said 51 groups involved in vehicle snatching/ stealing were busted and several of their facilitators were also arrested after interrogation from them.

    Asad Raza said more than 1,000 motorcycles and 400 cars were recovered from their possession.

    He said the cars and motorcycles were returned to citizens as per law.

    Madrassa teacher arrested for sexually abusing girls in Karachi

    KARACHI: Police on Wednesday arrested a madrassa teacher for sexually abusing at least 10 young girls in Korangi area of Karachi.

    According to ARY News correspondent, the man named Alam Ghouri sexually abused at least 10 girls aged between five and 14 and filmed the act on his cellphone camera.

    Alam was arrested after an area resident lodged a First Information Report (FIR) with police claiming that four years ago, Alam Ghouri not only raped his daughter but filmed the act.

    The complainant claimed that her daughter was 14 when the incident occurred and now the accused is blackmailing him with the video.

    After the arrest, police recovered at least eight obscene videos from his cellphone and have registered other cases on the department’s behalf.

    “I am ashamed, my reputation is tarnished, just kill me, shoot me,” the accused told ARY News when asked about his heinous crime.

    This is not the first time a person of respect is accused of such a heinous offence. In February, a school teacher in Okara was arrested for sexually abusing and filming young students.

    Earlier in January, the country was shaken by the rape and murder of seven-year-old Zainab Ansari in Kasur.

    Karachi: Man kills neighbour’s five-year-old son to ‘avenge slap’

    KARACHI: Police on Monday arrested a young man for allegedly murdering a five-year-old kid in Ittehad Town area of the city over a minor dispute with the victim’s father, ARY News reported.

    According to police, the man named Naimat Tahir confessed that he strangulated to death Sabir Khan, the five-year-old son of his neighbour Zahir Shah, for Zahir Shah slapped him a month ago over some minor dispute.

    “He (Sabir’s father) beat me and my brother for no reason,” Naimat Tahir told police in a confessional video statement, adding that the incident prompted him to kill Sabir.

    Five-year-old kid Sabir Khan went missing on March 28, Wednesday and his dead body was found on the very same day after which his father registered a First Information Report in Ittehad Town police station naming neighbour Naimat Tahir as suspect.

    Zahir Shah maintained in FIR that he left his home on March 28 at about 8AM for work but was informed by his brother at about 1PM that his son Sabir is missing since 10AM in the morning upon which he returned home and started searching for his son.

    “I was looking for my son when I saw that my neighbour Naimat Tahir’s house is locked, as I peeped inside, I saw my son’s slippers, (later) children from our locality told me that there is a body bag lying in a ford. I went into the ford, opened the body bag to find my son’s body with ropes tied around his neck and hands,” reads the FIR.

    He had added that he suspects Naimat Tahir has killed his son over “personal enmity”.

    Treason case registered against Hussain Haqqani

    KARACHI: Police on Wednesday registered a treason case against former Pakistan’s ambassador to the United States Hussain Haqqani over his alleged anti-state statements, ARY News reported. 

    Haqqani, who is at the center of the Memogate scandal, was booked under Section 120-B, 120-A, 121-A 123-A of Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) by the Preedy police.

    Advocate Moulvi Iqbal Haider filed a complaint seeking registration of a case against the former diplomat for allegedly committing heinous crimes by endangering the solidarity, integrity, and security of the country.

    The complainant stated that Haqqani in a number of interviews to foreign media outlets gave anti-state statements, in which he targeted Pakistan’s security forces.

    His statements were meant to weaken the country’s defence and endanger the cause of Kashmir, he claimed, adding that his remarks against the state attracted the relevant sections of the High Treason Act and Pakistan Penal Code (PPC).

    Earlier, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) registered a case against Haqqani for allegedly embezzling secret funds and misusing his authority during his stint as Pakistan’s ambassador to the United States.

    He booked under Section 3, 4, 409, and 109 of Pakistan Penal Code by the agency’s anti-corruption circle.

    In 2012, a judicial body had investigated the Memogate scandal and submitted its report to the apex court, holding Haqqani guilty of authoring the explosive memo and termed his acts disloyalty to the country.

    Haqqani is alleged to have written a memo to Adm. Mike Mullen, the top US military officer at the time, offering greater government cooperation in return for helping avert possible dismissal of the civilian government in the wake of the May 2 raid which led to the capture and killing of Osama bin Laden.

    KARACHI: Police in Karachi arrested four members of a “principled” dacoit gang; a gang which only robbed women and did it during “work hours”, ARY News reported on Monday.

    The gang had certain “principles” which they followed strictly: They only robbed women, they only did it during work hours i.e from 8AM to 4PM and then used to go home to spend time with their families, they took two days’ off during a week.

    Moreover, the gang leader, a jeweller, used to choose his victims as he only robbed women wearing real gold.

    The robbers namely Abdul Sattar, Ishaq, Tahir and Nadeem Haider told police that they robbed women in Tariq Road, Gulshan-e-Iqbal and Liaquatabad areas for about four years.

    The street criminals have been handed over to Special Investigations Unit (SIU0 for further investigation.

    KARACHI: A gangster on Tuesday confessed to killing dozens of people on the basis of their ethnicity in Karachi’s Lyari area, ARY News reported.

    Police’s Special Investigation Unit (SIU) arrested Najeeb alias Bao, a Lyari gangster,  from Pak Colony in a targeted operation conducted on a tip-off.

    SSP SIU Tariq Dhareju said the arrested suspect was originally a member of Jasim Golden Group that was working in connivance with Lyari Gangwar ringleader Uzair Baloch.

    “We would abduct Urdu speaking people after seeing their National Identity Cards,” Najeeb confessed in a statement with the police.

    He said the abductees were first taken to Aman Committee’s office then to Uzair Baloch and then he and his aides used to torture them before taking their lives.

    The suspect said most of the abductees were killed before one Ustad Taju at Aman Committee office.
