Qamar Bajwa was behind PTI-led govt’s ouster: Sheikh Rasheed

RAWALPINDI: Awami Muslim League chief Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed claimed there is no doubt that former Army Chief General (retd) Qamar Bajwa was ‘behind’ the toppling of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government.

In an exclusive interview with ARY News, the senior politician said that he knew that the Imran Khan-led PTI government was bound to be toppled. “The Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan had informed (to vote against Imran Khan in the no-confidence motion) me,” Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed added.

“I told Imran Khan that the MQM-P made it clear that the government is bound to be toppled as signaled by the real forces,” he added.

The host asked as if General Bajwa was involved in toppling the PTI government. “There is no doubt about it,” the former interior minister replied.

“No one has entered in politics of Pakistan, including me, without (backing) of the Gate No. 4,” he claimed.

Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed said that he does not see dialogue between the PTI and the government.

“I am not seeing successful dialogue and neither hopeful for it,” former federal minister said in his exclusive interview.

“Initially they were not holding talks, now they will not accept the conditions set for dialogue,” he said. “Two months after Eid are crucial, seeing decisive development by August,” he further said. “There might be some new to come on surface,” he added. “This government is a show off”.

He said that Nawaz Sharif has been better than Shehbaz and ‘less corrupt’.

“Shehbaz has only been for signing. Nawaz Sharif has not been in good books and could not aspire for it”.

Not seeing any dialogue between PTI and Govt: Rashid

ISLAMABAD: “I am not seeing dialogue between the PTI and the government,” Sheikh Rashid Ahmed has said in an interview with ARY News on Saturday.

He said, Nawaz Sharif has been better than Shehbaz and less corrupt”. Shehbaz has only been for signing,” Rashid said. He said, Nawaz Sharif has not been in good books and could not aspire for it”.

“There was a London Plan in 2014. Tahir ul Qadri visited London to meet the PTI’s founder. I did know the plan,” Rashid said. “I was also knowing when the PTI’s government was on its exit,” he said. “The MQM people are brothers, they informed me prior that our government was on exit,” Sheikh Rashid said.

He said the PTI’s founder was angry that he was being told that his government was exiting, when I had left the official residence. “I told him we are going out, but he said that his matters were improved”. “I told him that the MQM people have said that they have got the signal”, he said.

“I have no doubt that Qamar Bajwa was involved in the fall of the PTI’s government,” Sheikh Rashid said. “When I was visiting a house and saw Salik and Mohsin Naqvi emerging from it, I understood the matter. No one has entered in politics of Pakistan, including me, without the Gate No 4,” he claimed.

“After my Chilla, people left calling me on phone, once daily 200 to 400 people were visiting Lal Haveli, now only 20 people are visiting,” he said.

I will talk about future after talking with the PTI founder, he said. “I didn’t yet visit Adiala as I have no links with the new PTI team,” he said. “I don’t want to create a new problem after visiting Adiala,” he said. “My health deteriorated, otherwise my Chilla would have prolonged,” he said. “I would have return in the same vehicle in which I went, if I intend so. But I didn’t give anything in writing, neither made a video,” Sheikh Rashid said.

He said Awn Chaudhry’s statement in writing about Bushra Bibi was unethical. “One must stand with the truth, how could I say a thing, which I didn’t see,” he said.

“You will be surprising to know that all testimonies against me, have been from the PTI. My conscience is satisfied, and people respect me”.

“People like Zulfi Bukhari were managing my election while sitting in London”. “There are several people like Zulfi Bukhari who have fled from the country earlier,” he said. “PTI’s founder had to respect my association with him, but it didn’t happen”, Awami Muslim League head said. “I had a soft corner for the founder of the PTI and it will remain, but I was not treated well,” Rashid complained.

He said, Nawaz Sharif should emerge as a leader of reconciliation to create ground for him to become prime minister in a future election. “The PML-N people instead of getting scared must move towards reconciliation,” he advised.

PML-N leaders ‘active’ to make Nawaz Sharif prime minister again

LAHORE: After Nawaz Sharif reclaimed his role as PML-N president, some old guards of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz have started making efforts to bring him back as prime minister of Pakistan, ARY News reported on Wednesday, citing sources.

Insiders told ARY News that some key leaders of PML-N have initiated a campaign to make Nawaz the prime minister, a position he has held three times before.

Recently, some federal ministers of the PML-N had expressed their desire to see the party president as Prime Minister again during a gathering in Islamabad, which some foreign dignitaries also attended.

On that occasion, a federal minister stated, “We want Nawaz Sharif to become Prime Minister again to improve the country’s situation.”

However, sources also revealed that some key figures in the PML-N are also against the proposed idea, while Nawaz himself has not yet expressed his opinion on the matter.

It is pertinent to mention here that Nawaz Sharif reclaimed his role as the president of the PML-N, after staying on the sidelines for almost six years.

After his ouster, his brother Shehbaz Sharif became the party president, but resigned earlier this month to pave the way for his brother to reclaim the coveted slot, which he had been holding following a Supreme Court ruling in 2017.

At the session of the general council in Lahore, PML-N election commissioner Rana Sanaullah said Nawaz Sharif was nominated for the party president slot. Sanaullah sought approval from the members of the general council, who stood on their seats to endorse the nomination, followed by pro-Nawaz sloganeering.

A resolution was also presented in the meeting demanding action against those involved in toppling the Nawaz government in 2017.

PML-N leader said those in hiding should come to surface. “The PTI’s founder was if really doing politics, we couldn’t get the space at the time of no-confidence, we found”, he said.

“If the PTI didn’t quit the parliament, our government could not sustain upto 16 months,” Rana Sanaullah said. “The May 09 could not happen, if the PTI didn’t dissolve its government in two provinces,” he further said.

He said, “Political instability causes economic instability and the PTI’s founder has caused it”. “He has, being a politician, has adopted an apolitical approach. In a parliamentary system if you refuse dialogue, you are threat to the system,” Sanaullah said.

“If you want to bring a revolution, you should quit the parliament, as the parliament has nothing to do with the revolution,” he said.

Government adviser said,” A PTI man has been saying that they will not allow us the dialogue. It is our job to get the permission, you leave it and come to the table for talks,” Rana Sanaullah said.

“They are now demanding to give ‘our mandate’ first and release prisoners,” he said. “If we give the mandate and free prisoners, then what will be for talks. If we give you all, then we will be in jails,” PML-N leader said.

He said that the opposition alliance is being formed itself, “they have not been given any signal”. “A route of talks could open, if the opposition alliance would constitute”, political adviser said. “We will talk with Maulana Fazl ur Rehman after completion of the opposition alliance”. “If we talk with him prior, they will not get him in the alliance,” Sanaullah said.

“Now, I don’t have any hate against the PTI founder, though he did struggle in a wrong direction still he resisted and taken stand,” Sanaullah said. “He is a political reality but refusing dialogue,” he said.

“Neither he could eliminate us nor we to him, we only can sit and hold talks,” he said. “If you don’t understand it, you have to face transgenders”, PML-N leader said.

“Resistance shall be necessity of time but not resistance for the sake of resistance,” he said.

He said, when the establishment has been agreed to be restricted to its role then what is the need of resistance. “If they are ready to help you out in the SIFC, then why resistance is needed,” Sanaullah said.

Commenting on release of Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi he said, his release has been justified, ” I was not expecting him to tolerate that much”. “Definitely he is an opponent, but I respect the one who stands alongside the leader against all odds,” he said.
