    British MP approaches Boris Johnson for Nawaz Sharif’s return  

    LONDON: A British Member of Parliament (MP) has written a letter to the UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson seeking details regarding the return of PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif to Pakistan, ARY NEWS reported on Tuesday.

    According to details, the British Parliamentarian Stephen Timms through a letter asked Prime Minister Boris Johnson if any arrangements were made to send back Nawaz Sharif, ex-premier of Pakistan.


    Stephen Timms wrote the letter on December 16, saying that one of his constituents has also written a letter to Boris Johnson regarding the matter while also sharing details regarding the refusal of Pakistani authorities from accepting a flight of the country’s deportees.

    The British MP in his letter said that the UK was bound to send back the ex-prime minister of Pakistan.

    Moreover, Khalid Lodhi, who had also written a letter to Boris Johnson, said that he had written a letter to British Home Minister Priti Patel and member of Parliament of the constituency, where PML-N supremo was currently staying.

    The letter said that Nawaz Sharif came to London for his medical treatment and has now stayed in the country for more than a year.

    It is pertinent to mention here that the Islamabad High Court (IHC) declared on December 02 former prime minister Nawaz Sharif a proclaimed offender in the Avenfield and Al-Azizia references.

    Belgium dispatches first COVID vaccine consignment to UK

    LONDON: Britain received on Thursday its first consignment of Covid vaccine prepared by Pfizer and BioNTech that its medical drugs board has approved to be administered in a world-first, ARY News reported.

    The vaccine which will be stored in a controlled environment with a temperature not more than -70-degree centigrade, is developed in Pfizer’s Belgium plant in collaboration with German company BioNTech.

    British authorities have said they will start administering the vaccine by Tuesday.

    Separately, it is reported that Britain will add COVID-19 vaccines to an existing scheme to cover liabilities from any potential severe side-effects of the shots, a day after it became the first Western country to approve a vaccine against the illness which has created global havoc.

    LONDON: Supporters of Pakistan Tehreek e Insaaf while staging their protest on Friday outside Avenfield apartments against the former prime minister Nawaz Sharif face off Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz supporters, ARY News reported.

    The confrontation between the two groups turned into an arena of slurs and slogans raised against each party leadership.

    Earlier today PTI announced it would stage a protest outside the London office of Hussain Nawaz, from where the PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif would address the Gujranwala rally of the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM).

    “We will stage a protest keeping in view the social distancing measures,” said PTI leader Sahibzada Jahangir.

    According to details, Nawaz Sharif is set to address the Gujranwala public rally from the studio setup at the office of Hussain in the Avenfield apartments. A number of PML-N activists gathered outside the office of Hussain to express solidarity with the party leader.

    The protest by PTI now fights the crowd of PMLN supporters in yelling louder slurs against each other outside the spot as PMLN London office prepares for Sharif’s address.

    It may be noted that PML-N made arrangements for the security of the PML-N supremo following the announcements of protest by PTI and hired four bouncers [private security guards] to be deployed outside the office.

    The metro police has advised the people attending the protests from either side to maintain social distancing discipline in the midst of COVID-19 case hike in the Great Britain.

    LONDON: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) will stage a protest outside the London office of Hussain Nawaz, from where the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) supremo Nawaz Sharif would address the Gujranwala rally of the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM), ARY NEWS reported.

    According to details, Nawaz Sharif will be addressing the Gujranwala public rally from the studio setup at the office of Hussain Nawaz. A number of PML-N activists will also gather outside the office of Hussain Nawaz to express solidarity with the party leader.

    On the other hand, Spokesman for Prime Minister Imran Khan in London Sahibzada Jahangir will lead a protest outside Hussain Nawaz’s office. “We will stage a protest keeping in view the social distancing measures,” said PTI leader Sahibzada Jahangir.

    The PML-N has, meanwhile, made arrangements for the security of the PML-N supremo in the wake of the protest and hired four bouncers [private security guards] to be deployed outside the office.

    It is pertinent to mention here that PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif was declared a proclaimed offender earlier in September and had refused to receive his arrest warrants. The arrest warrants were sent twice by-hand and once via Britain’s Royal Mail.

    The court had summoned Sharif to appear before the court in a corruption case and issued his non-bailable arrest warrants.

    The federal government had also written a letter to the UK for the deportation of the convicted former premier as well, who was allowed to go to London to receive his medical treatment last year but later was declared an absconder by courts here.

    LONDON: The London police on Tuesday sought details of coronavirus lockdown violation by former prime minister Nawaz Sharif.

    As per details, a Twitter user by sharing a video of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif walking with five other men drove the attention of the London police.

    “Dear @metpoliceuk these men are breaking the six people rule, please look into this. Their group leader’s surname is Sharif and the address is Avenfiled Apartments, Park  Lane. Thanks”, the tweet reads.

     The Metropolitan police said in its reply that local police have been informed about the violation.

    It may be noted that Pakistan and the United Kingdom are currently in contact for the extradition of the former prime minister and PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif.

    LONDON: Former prime minister Nawaz Sharif has said that Pakistan was prospering with the efforts of his team during the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz government, ARY News reported on Thursday.

    Addressing the Central Working Committee meeting of the PML-N, former prime minister Nawaz Sharif thanked the party leaders for their support in this crucial time.

    Nawaz Sharif said Pakistan was becoming an Asian Tiger during his tenure of government and people of the country were prosperous, but now the inflation has broken the backbone of the countrymen.

    Highlighting the achievements of his government, the PML-N supremo said that his party while being in power completed development projects including the construction of powerhouses with pace to provide relief to the masses.

    There was surplus gas and electricity in the country and people were job opportunities were increasing with every passing day.

    Elder Sharif claimed that Pakitan was planning to get membership in the G20 countries forum during his government, but now the situation of the country is terrible.

    LONDON: Former prime minister Nawaz Sharif has started revealing national secrets and took credit for equipping the country with cruise missiles, ARY News reported on Wednesday.

    Talking to media in London, the PML-N supreme leader claimed that Pakistan had built its missiles by copying American missiles through reverse engineering and he had given cruise missiles to the country.

    Nawaz Sharif said, “The United States had fired missiles at Afghanistan during the war which landed in Balochistan. We made our missiles by copying the US missiles.”

    Commenting over the claims made by the former prime minister, PTI leader Shahbaz Gill said, “Nawaz Sharif is damaging country by revealing national secrets.”

    He said Nawaz should be tried for high treason for exposing country secrets.

    Security analyst Lt. Gen (r) Amjad Shoaib said that the PML-N leader is leaking national secrets for personal interest.

    MQM-P lays claim to seven London properties

    LONDON: The Muttahida Qaumi Movement Pakistan (MQM-P) has initiated legal claims regarding ownership of seven expensive London properties against the party founder Altaf Hussain, his brother Iqbal Hussain and five other associates at the London High Court, ARY News reported, citing sources.

    This is the first time MQM-P has taken any action against the founder or his associates. The claim has been launched in the MQM-P’s capacity through a London law firm Legis Chambers for the possession of seven prime location properties valued at over £10 million.

    The lawsuit was filed by Syed Aminul Haque, the MNA from NA251 Karachi who is a Federal Minister for Information Technology and also a member of the MQM-Pakistan’s Rabita Committee.

    The MQM-P has nominated Iftikhar Hussain, Tariq Mir, Muhammad Anwar, Qasim Raza and Euro Property Development in the lawsuit.

    Reportedly, the properties which are being claimed are Abbey View house, High View Gardens first house, Whitchurch Lane first house, Brookfield Avenue house, High View Gardens second house, Whitchurch Lane second house, and the MQM 1st Floor Elizabeth House office.

    The claimant (MQM-P) has maintained that MQM Pakistan is “the real beneficiary of all seven properties as per the UK trust law.

    Earlier on July 3, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) had filed an application in anti-terrorism court (ATC) in Islamabad for the seizure immovable properties owned by Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) founder in and outside Pakistan.

    Imran Farooq murder: Pakistan demands UK to handover MQM founder, others

    LONDON: Pakistan has demanded the United Kingdom to handover founder of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) and other accused declared absconders in Imran Farooq murder case, ARY NEWS reported on Thursday.

    According to details, the request was forwarded to the British authorities to handover the accused MQM founder, Muhammad Anwar and Iftikhar Hussain after an anti-terrorism court (ATC) found their role in the murder of Imran Farooq in London.

    The killers were brought to justice with the cooperation of the Pakistani authorities, the letter reminded and demanded that the British authorities should now bring the culprits living on their soil to justice.

    The accused should be handed over to Pakistan, demanded the letter and suggested that similar cooperation between the two countries should continue in other cases to bring culprits to justice.

    It is pertinent to mention here that on June 18, after a marathon trial, an anti-terrorism court (ATC) in Islamabad handed life imprisonment to three men over their involvement in the murder case of MQM leader Dr Imran Farooq.

    ATC Judge Shahrukh Arjumand announced the verdict that was reserved on May 21.

    The court handed life sentence to Moazzam Ali, Mohsin Ali and Khalid Shamim and directed them to pay a fine of Rs1 million each to the legal heirs of the slain MQM leader. The convicts who are incarcerated in Adiala Jail heard the verdict through video link.

    They were handed the sentence on charges of plotting the murder and aiding and abetting the crime.

    Dr Imran Farooq was stabbed and bludgeoned to death near his apartment in London in September 2010. Earlier, the three accused, Khalid Shamim, Mohsin Ali Syed, and Moazzam Ali, had retracted their confessional statements.

    UK bans PIA over ‘fake’ licences scandal

    ISLAMABAD: In line with the European Union Aviation Safety Agency’s (EASA) decision, the United Kingdom (UK) Civil Aviation Authority on Tuesday suspended the authorization for Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) to operate in the country over the alleged fake licences scandal, ARY News reported.

    According to a spokesperson of UK CAA, the authority has suspended the flights of PIA to and from London, Birmingham and Manchester.

    He maintained that the CAA, under its law, bound to follow the EASA’s decisions.

    Earlier today, European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) had announced to suspend Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) flight operations for Europe over safety concerns.

    The suspension will come into force from Wednesday and will remain in place for six months. All PIA flights to Europe will remain suspended after the order as the national flag carrier had asked passengers to either refund their tickets or extend them for a later date.

    Speaking over the development, a PIA spokesman had said that they were in touch with the European authorities over the matter.
    “We are taking measures to allay their concerns,” he had said while hoping that the suspension would be lifted soon.
