    Nawaz Sharif leaves for Saudi Arabia

    LONDON: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) supremo Nawaz Sharif left for Saudi Arabia on a private visit before returning to Pakistan on October 21, ARY News reported on Wednesday.

    According to details, the three-time prime minister will depart for Jeddah via Saudi Airlines flight SV 116 as he left for London Airport.

    A number of PML-N workers were present outside Avenfield House, from where Nawaz Sharif departed for London Airport.

    The PML-N supremo – who is scheduled to arrive in Pakistan on October 21 – will visit Dubai after performing Umrah in Saudi Arabia.

    A day earlier, it was reported that the former prime minister had booked his ticket for flight to Islamabad from Dubai.

    The flight has been named “Umeed-e-Pakistan,” say sources, adding that the special flight will make a stopover in Islamabad.

    Yesterday, PML-N senior organizer Maryam Nawaz said that the former prime minister will steer Pakistan out of crisis.

    She said in country’s 76 years history, has any Prime Minister other than Nawaz Sharif prevented or minimized inflated prices? but in his 35-year political career, he spent 11 years in exile.

    It is pertinent to mention here that former prime minister Shehbaz Sharif announced Nawaz Sharif’s return to Pakistan on October 21. “he will be given a splendid welcome on his arrival”, he added.

    He said that the party supremo was removed from power through a conspiracy and the rigging in the 2018 general elections left Pakistan behind in the region.

    Former premier and Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) supremo Nawaz Sharif has confirmed to return to the country next month, family sources confirmed to ARY News on Friday.

    The preparations for Nawaz Sharif’s return to Pakistan entered final phase, family sources told ARY News. It was learnt that consultations are still underway for the former premier’s return, however, Sharif’s lawyers suggested him to return home.

    The premier held a consultative meeting with the party leaders in which he mentioned his return to Pakistan for first time. The meeting was attended Chaudhry Tanveer, Daniyal Chaudhry, Chaudhry Nadeem Khadim, Dr Anjum and others.

    “Shehbaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz are in contact with Nawaz Sharif regarding his arrival in Pakistan,” sources added.

    They said that Sharif will return to Pakistan despite the top court’s verdict in the Supreme Court (SC) Review of Order & Judgements case. Sharif’s lawyers completed preparations for his defence.

    In August, PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif had confirmed that his brother and ex-PM Nawaz Sharif would return to Pakistan in October.

    “We held consultations with the senior leadership of the party and we have decided that Nawaz Sharif will return to Pakistan in October and lead the election campaign,” Shehbaz Sharif said while talking to journalists in London.

    The PML-N president had also said that his brother world come to Pakistan and face the law and “there are no two opinions on it”. However, Shehbaz Sharif did not specify a date when Nawaz would return

    “Nawaz Sharif’s name was not there in Panama papers. His name was included in the investigation through a conspiracy and no action was taken against other people whose names were actually there,” the former premier said.

    Responding to a question on whether ‘current and former judges’ would be punished, Shehbaz emphasised on ‘transparent accountability’ across the board and said Pakistan cannot move forward without it.

    He also vowed that as a political party, the PML-N will “fully facilitate the ECP for free, fair and transparent elections”.

    LONDON: A journalist has lodged a complaint against a security guard of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) supremo Nawaz Sharif over ‘misconduct’ outside Hussain Nawaz’s office in London, ARY News reported on Monday.

    According to details, a complaint with London police was filed against Nawaz Sharif’s guard over aggressive behaviour and hurling abuses towards journalists who had gathered at Hussain Nawaz’s office to report on the forthcoming meeting between the Sharif brothers in London.

    The journalist said the former prime minister’s guard made obscene gestures and used foul language. He hoped that the police will take strict action against the accused.

    It is pertinent to mention here that PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif’s security guard misbehaved with Pakistani journalists and hurled abuses for filming Shehbaz Sharif’s arrival.

    Pakistani journalists arrived at Nawaz Sharif’s residence in London to cover Shehbaz’s arrival for a key meeting. Upon Shehbaz’s arrival, the journalists started filming his video but the security guard came forward and misbehaved with the journalists.

    In the video, the security guard was seen hurling abusive remarks and threatening the journalists. The journalists kept asking him that they are just performing their duties but the security guard was not convinced.

    The journalists protested against the misconduct of the security guard and demanded Nawaz Sharif to take notice of the incident.

    It should be noted that Shehbaz Sharif had arrived in London to hold consultations with Nawaz ahead of the general elections and finalising the PML-N Quaid’s return to Pakistan.

    LONDON: Moonis Elahi – son of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf President Parvez Elahi – has said reconciliation with the PTI chief is the way to move Pakistan forward from current political and economic turmoil, ARY News reported on Monday. 

    This he said in an informal interaction with the journalists in London. The former MNA said Shehbaz Sharif had the opportunity to serve the masses but failed to deliver۔

    Replying to a question, Moonis Elahi said former prime minister Shehbaz Sharif and former finance minister Ishaq Dar remained successful in their ‘goals’. Both caused a major dent in the economy, he added.

    Delay in elections will further dent the country’s already ill economy, he added.

    Elahi said inflated electricity bills have made the lives of the masses miserable and asked the government to provide relief to the masses.

    It may be noted that Moonis Elahi had been declared an absconder over continued absence in the money laundering case by a Lahore district court.

    The case against Pervaiz and Moonis includes charges of fraud, money laundering, and corruption. It is alleged that the father-son duo concealed billions of rupees in five Panama-based companies, with Pervaiz Elahi using apparent money laundering techniques to acquire these companies.

    LONDON: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) supremo Nawaz Sharif is expected to return to Pakistan on October 15, ARY News reported on Friday citing sources.

    According to the sources, the PML-N supremo has decided to return to Pakistan in mid-October after a discussion with Shehbaz Sharif, and close family members in London.

    Previously, it emerged that Nawaz will return to Pakistan by mid-September.

    The decision to return around mid-October was taken after Shehbaz held two meetings with the PML-N supremo in London.

    Former prime minister Shehbaz Sharif and PML-N President is currently in London to discuss the matters related to his elder brother’s return to Pakistan and the current political scenario in the country.

    Shehbaz is holding consultations with Nawaz Sharif on his return to Pakistan and various party matters, sources said.

    Earlier, PML-N leader and former interior minister Rana Sanaullah said that the party was provided a guarantee, it sought for the return of Nawaz Sharif.

    Sharif will return to Pakistan after the announcement of the general elections, Rana Sanaullah said while talking on a private Tv programme.

    LONDON: Former prime minister and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) supremo Nawaz Sharif returned to London after concluding his Europe tour, ARY News reported, citing family sources.

    The former prime minister had left for Dubai on June 24 where he held important meetings with top leadership of his party. Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari also held meeting with Nawaz Sharif in Dubai.

    After engagements in Dubai, the PML-N supremo also visited Saudi Arabia and three countries in Europe.

    According to sources, the former prime minister is expected to meet several political figures at his London residence in the next few days.

    Family sources also informed that Nawaz Sharif will return to Pakistan next month.

    Earlier, Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif said Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) supremo would come back to Pakistan next month and would face his cases in courts.

    In an interview with a private television channel, the prime minister said after the caretaker government was formed he would go to London to discuss a plan for his return with his brother.

    The PML-N supremo would lead the election campaign of his party and would be the next prime minister for the fourth time if Pakistan Muslim League(N) won the next election, he added.

    LONDON: Federal Minister for Law and Justice Azam Nazeer said on Tuesday that no legal issues are existing anymore for the return of Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) supremo Nawaz Sharif to the country, ARY News reported.

    While addressing a press conference in London, Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar said that all legal complications have been removed for Nawaz Sharif’s return. “Consultation process is under and Nawaz Sharif will lead the election campaign soon.”

    Tarar said that the law for lifetime disqualification was inappropriate. “Even murder convicts get qualified for the parliamentary contests in five years,” he added.

    The law minister said that Sharif’s lawyer will decide whether bail would be sought for his return or not.

    Regarding the trials in military courts, Tarar said that the government will not pardon those who have attacked the defence institutions. He added that the basic rights of the accused will not be affected in the military courts.

    Tarar said that the accused in London and Capitol Hill attacks had also faced penalties. He, however, admitted that lawyers are divided over the military trials. He claimed that the decision for running the trial of a political leader or a woman has not been taken yet.

    PML-N UK President Zubair Gul was also present in the press conference.

    Earlier in the day, former prime minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi held a meeting with Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) supremo Nawaz Sharif in London amid rumours of differences.

    The meeting came after former premier Shahid Khaqan Abbasi was not given any position in Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) in the recently-held intra-party elections.

    The PML-N leader reached the office of party supremo’s son Hussain Nawaz for the meeting.

    Talking to journalists after the meeting, Shahid Khaqan ruled out ‘any possibility’ forming a new political party and said that no differences were in the party.

    “Reimaging Pakistan is a platform for dialogue, where everyone should resolve their issues by talks,” he said, inviting all stakeholders to participate in the dialogue.

    Abbasi further said that every stakeholder should sit together and take measures for country’s betterment.

    In response to a question, he said the elections should be held in October-November this year as per the Constitution.

    LONDON: Former prime minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi on Tuesday held a meeting with Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) supremo Nawaz Sharif in London amid rumours of differences, ARY News reported.

    The meeting came after former premier Shahid Khaqan Abbasi was not given any position in Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) in the recently-held intra-party elections.

    The PML-N leader reached the office of party supremo’s son Hussain Nawaz for the meeting.

    Talking to journalists after the meeting, Shahid Khaqan ruled out ‘any possibility’ forming a new political party and said that no differences were in the party.

    “Reimaging Pakistan is a platform for dialogue, where everyone should resolve their issues by talks,” he said, inviting all stakeholders to participate in the dialogue.

    Abbasi further said that every stakeholder should sit together and take measures for country’s betterment.

    In response to a question, he said the elections should be held in October-November this year as per the Constitution. He noted that the provincial assemblies were dissolved to spread chaos in the country.

    According to Shahid Khaqan, he had Nawaz Sharif that he would leave party positions if the “leadership is changed”. He reminded that he had resigned from the party position in January and was not a party official now.

    All the central office-bearers of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), including its President Shehbaz Sharif, have been “re-elected” for another four-year term without having any contest in the intra-party polls.

    The intra-party elections at the federal level were held at the Central Secretariat of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), Chak Shehzad.

    Besides Shehbaz Sharif, Maryam Nawaz has been elected unopposed as the PML-N chief organiser, Ahsan Iqbal as secretary general, Marriyum Aurangzeb as secretary of information, Ataullah Tarar as Deputy Secretary and Ishaq Dar as Secretary Finance.

    LONDON: Former prime minister and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) supremo Nawaz Sharif has asserted that his party would guide the country out of current crises, ARY News reported.

    Talking to journalists in London, the former premier strongly criticised Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan for ‘failed economic policies’, accusing the latter of toying with the nation during his near-four-year tenure.

    Nawaz Sharif claimed that during the PML-N’s tenure, the people of Pakistan were happier and the economy was thriving.

    “Just compare my four years with Imran Khan’s tenure,” he suggested. The PML-N supremo vowed that his party would guide the country out of its current crises.

    Meanwhile, Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah expressed confidence that the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz would succeed in the upcoming by-polls in Punjab, adding that his party’s numbers were sufficient in the province.

    On the return of PML-N Senior Vice President Maryam Nawaz, Rana Sanaullah confirmed her return and said that she would return to Pakistan next week. He added that upon her return to Pakistan, Maryam would engage in reorganizing the party.

    Moreover, the interior minister said that Nawaz Sharif too will return to the country soon and would lead PML-N’s election campaign. “Nawaz Sharif wants to return the country as soon as possible,” he added.

    It is pertinent to mention here that Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah arrives in London on Former prime minister Nawaz Sharif’s call.

    According to sources, the Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) supremo has expressed his annoyance over the loss and political situation in Punjab and summoned the Interior minister to London

    The meeting will also discuss the matter of constituting a parliamentary board, sources added.

    The PML-N lawmakers engaged in a verbal spat at the party meeting. The PML-N MPA and a former senior provincial minister lambasted the SAPM Atta Tarar for defeat in the Punjab assembly.

    He pointed at the Ata Tarar and said that the people who are sitting in the gallery are the reason behind the defeat and their miscalculations and wrong planning resulted in Pervaiz Elahi’s successful vote of confidence. The federal interior minister was also sitting in the gallery.

    Pakistan military officer sues Adil Raja for defamation in UK

    LONDON: A senior Pakistan military officer has sued YouTuber and social media activist Adil Raja for defamation at UK’s London High Court for running defamatory campaign against him on social media, ARY News reported on Monday.  

    According to details, the serving military brigade sued Adil Farooq Raja for defamation for running defamatory campaign against him on Twitter and YouTube.

    The YouTuber has levelled allegations of involvement in election rigging, horse-trading for General (retd) Qamar Javed Bajwa and holding secret meetings with Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari to manipulate Punjab by-elections.

    The court papers stated that Adil Raja started his campaign against the serving military brigade on June 14, 2022, when he in a tweet accused the Pakistan miliary officer of involvement in rigging the Punjab by-elections.

    Lawyers have told the UK High Court that allegations levelled by Major retd Raja have caused serious harm to their client’s reputation.

    Meanwhile, the defendant Major (retd) Raja confirmed that the serving military brigadier has filed a defamation case against him.
