    Cash van driver flees with Rs60 million in Karachi

    KARACHI: In yet another cash van heist in Karachi, a driver of the security company fled with RS60 million in the Korangi Industrial area of the port city, ARY News reported on Wednesday.

    According to police, the driver of the cash van fled with Rs60 million by leaving the vehicle in Korangi’s Awami Colony.

    The police said the accused is a resident of Vehari, Punjab, and an investigation is underway into the matter after registration of the First Information Report (FIR) of the incident.

    In a separate incident, last year in August, the driver of a cash van had fled with Rs205 million from a bank on I.I. Chundrigar Road in Karachi. A case was registered against the driver and his accomplices at the Meethadar police station.

    The police said that after guards of a private company left to deliver cash to a bank located at I.I. Chundrigar road, the driver of the cash van ran away with the vehicle.

    CCTV footage of Lasbela sewerage blast emerges

    KARACHI: CCTV footage of Lasbela sewerage blast has emerged which killed one youth and eight others sustained injuries, ARY News reported.

    As per details, the CCTV footage shows the deceased youth Areeb wearing a red T-shirt standing beside a cart and the explosion took place when he went towards his shop.

    The dead body of 22-year-old Areeb was recovered from the debris 26 hours after the blast.

    At least one died and eight others received injuries when a blast took place in a sewerage line near Lasbela, a coastal district of Balochistan near Karachi.

    According to police, the blast took place due to gas stuck in a sewerage line near Lasbela. As a result of the blast, eight people sustained burn injuries, while a hotel and several constructions were damaged.

    After getting information about the incident, the rescue teams reached the spot and moved the injured to the hospital.

    In December 2021, a factory-like building at Shershah Paracha Chowk in Karachi partially collapsed following a powerful explosion, resulting in the death of 15 people including former PTI MNA Alamgir Khan’s father.

    At least 15 people lost their lives and 12 sustained wounds in the explosion. Police said it was apparently a gas-related explosion in the nullah.

    Young man shot dead by robbers over resistance in Karachi

    KARACHI: Unidentified robbers killed a young man for putting up resistance during a robbery bid near Karachi’s Northern Bypass on Friday, ARY News reported, quoting the police.

    According to details, the incident took place near Karachi’s Northen Bypass when the victim – identified as Ibrahim – travelling in a Suzuki was shot and killed during a robbery.

    He was intercepted by armed muggers riding on a motorbike and as soon as he offered some resistance one of them shot him and rode away.

    Following the incident, the residents of the area staged a protest and blocked the Northern Bypass for traffic. The protesters were demanding the police arrest the robbers and brought them to justice.

    It is pertinent to mention here that armed robbers continued to strike in Karachi without any fear, depriving a large number of people of their cash, cell phones and other valuables.

    Earlier in August, it was reported that more than 80 citizens were killed resisting robbery in Karachi during the first seven months of 2023.

    According to a report issued by the Citizens Police Liaison Committee (CPLC), street crime increased in the first seven months of 2023 as more than 52,000 incidents were reported from January 1 to July 31.

    The report said that over 80 people were killed resisting robbery, while more than 16,000 citizens lost their mobile phones.

    KARACHI: Police have claimed to arrest a rioter who hoisted Afghan flag in Karachi during the protest, last year.

    According to details, Rana Baloch, the main suspect who rioted at the Karachi Superhighway and hoisted the Afghan flag was arrested on a tip-off.

    The police on a tip-off raided Al-Asif Square at Sohrab Goth and arrested the main suspect of superhighway riots.

    According to police officials, last year, Rana Baloch made a fuss with colleagues on the Karachi Superhighway and fled to Afghanistan۔

    During the commotion, the accused burned a bus of Jinnah Sindh Medical University and several other vehicles. Rana Baloch was also involved in waving the Afghan flag on the Superhighway and adjoining areas.

    KARACHI: Main Suspect who abandoned the girl’s body at Jinnah Hospital Karachi has been arrested, ART News reported.

    As per details, DIG South Irfan Baloch said that suspect Jibran aka Jimmy and Sehrish abandoned the body of the Tiktok girl at Jinnah Hospital Karachi and fled from there.

    He said that search operation for the woman suspect is underway and the arrested suspect Jimmy is being investigated.

    Furthermore, the DIG South Irfan Baloch said that the FIR of the case will be registered on her father’s complaint.

    Earlier, the investigation officer revealed that the young girl was dropped – in the private gathering at the Bangalow located at DHA phase 1, Street 32, Saba Street – by a person named Nadeem along with four other girls last night. However, the ‘owner’ of the bungalow – Tariq – vacated the bungalow and fled after the incident.

    SSP South expressed that the police department vowed to bring this case to a logical conclusion and hold all responsible parties accountable.

    As per hospital sources, the preliminary investigation revealed that the girl’s condition deteriorated due to an overdose of drugs, but the post-mortem showed no evidence of drug overdose or violence.

    It is worth mentioning here that some individuals left Ayesha – a TikToker girl’s body – at Jinnah Hospital on Friday and fled in a white car. The suspects left the vehicle at the corner of Saba Street, a few yards away from the bungalow.

    Karachi: Three arrested for supplying dead chicken meat in Korangi, Landhi

    KARACHI: Three people involved in supplying dead poultry chicken meat in Karachi from Thatta were arrested on Thursday by police, ARY News reported.

    As per details, over 1,000 dead chicken was seized by police in Karachi’s Korangi No.4. Three people named Hasnain Aslam, Javed and Farooq were arrested, who made startling revelations.

    The police said the dead chicken meat was being supplied in the port city from different poultry farms of Thatta.

    The arrested said they used to supply dead chicken meat to different hotels and marts in Gulshan-e-Hadeed, Korangi and Landhi.

    In a similar raid conducted by police in 2021, the Punjab police arrested a gang involved in supplying meat from dead animals to eateries in Pakpattan and other cities.

    The police had acted on a tip-off and arrested suppliers from different parts of the city. More than 40 kg of meat was recovered from their possession.

    KARACHI: Rescue teams on Thursday recovered another body of a young man, who drowned at Manora Beach during picking, ARY News reported.

    According to details, the body of another young man was fished out from Manora Beach in Karachi by the rescue team, while the search for the fourth one is still underway،

    After the recovery of another, body, the death toll has jumped to three in the tragedy.

    The deceased have been identified as 15-year-old Anees, Hassan, 16 years old and Mubaashir, 25.

    Mauripur SHO Ghulam Husain Korai said that four students of a Korangi seminary left for Manora after Fajr on Tuesday. They were at the beach when strong waves took them away.

    The SHO said that they usually recommended the administration to impose a ban on swimming at sea in the months of June and July in view of high tides.

    KARACHI: At least two people were killed and seven others were injured in a horrific road crash between a passenger bus and trailer at Karachi Superhighway, ARY News reported on Friday, quoting rescue sources.

    The accident occurred at the Lucky Cement factory between a trailer and a bus. The injured and bodies were moved to a nearby hospital.

    The cause behind the horrific incident remained unknown as per the initial report.

    Pakistan has been reporting a number of accidents and it has been reported that at least 780 people lost their lives in Karachi traffic accidents in 2022.

    The Edhi Foundation’s spokesperson said 780 died and 9,725 citizens were wounded in traffic accidents in 2022. Meanwhile, a total of 540 were killed and 2,465 people wounded in different firing incidents in the metropolis.

    The spokesperson added that 260 perished due to drowning in rivers and nullahs, on the other hand, 124 citizens lost their lives due to electrocution.

    KARACHI: A woman sustained injuries as fire gutted at least 150 huts in Karachi in the wee hours of Tuesday, ARY News reported

    According to details, fire erupted in the huts located in Gulshan-e-Qadri, Malir which spread very quickly and destroyed at least 150 huts. A woman sustained injuries in the blaze and was shifted to hospital by rescue teams.

    About eight fire brigade vehicles arrived at the scene quickly and managed to extinguish the flames after a hectic effort. According to fire brigade sources, the cause of the fire is not yet known.

    The fire erupted around 1:30am when all the people were sleeping, the affectees said and added that their valuables turned into ashes.

    In a similar incident that occurred last year, at least 100 huts were gutted when a fire broke out in slums located in the Teen Hatti area of Karachi.

    A huge blaze was broke out in the slums located beneath the Teen Hatti bridge, resulting in injuries to at least two and destroying more than 100 huts.

    Three fire brigade vehicles, rescue teams and a large contingent of police reached the spot and brought the fire under control after a hectic effort of two hours.

    PTI lawmaker Arsalan Taj arrested from residence in Karachi

    KARACHI: Sindh police on late Sunday arrested provincial lawmaker of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Arsalan Taj Hussain from his residence in the port city, PTI provincial spokesperson said.

    Arsalan Taj, PTI lawmaker and the general secretary of the party’s Karachi chapter, was arrested by officials from the Gulshan Iqbal area.

    The spokesperson also claimed that the police raided the MPA’s house and ransacked it. The PTI has condemned their party member’s arrest.

    According to PTI Sindh spokesperson, Raja Azhar and Khurram Sher Zaman were not present at their residence during the raid, Qureshi said and added Arslan Taj has been taken into custody during the raid.

    He demanded of Sindh CM and IG the immediate release of Arslan Taj.

    Reacting to the raids on PTI lawmakers’ residences, the party’s Senior Vice-President Fawad Chaudhry took to his Twitter to condemn the lawmaker’s arrest and demanded his “immediate release”.
