    Journalist Khawar Hussain found dead in Sanghar

    SANGHAR: The body of journalist Khawar Hussain was found with gunshot wounds inside a vehicle in Sanghar on Saturday, ARY News reported citing police.

    Khawar Hussain, who was affiliated with a private news channel, was found dead in his car outside a restaurant on Hyderabad Road.

    According to the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Khawar Hussain had a pistol in his hand and a bullet wound to his head. A pistol was found in the journalist’s hand raised questions about the nature of his demise.

    Rescue teams also reached at the location, assisting with the ongoing efforts. Further details are awaited as the investigation continues.

    Basically from Sanghar, Khawar Hussain had been doing journalism in Karachi for almost a decade and worked for different media groups.

    In response, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah sought a report from the provincial police chief.

    The chief minister has directed the Inspector General of Police (IGP) to assign the investigation to the police’s best officer and instructed that a thorough investigation be conducted to ascertain the true cause of Khawar Hussain’s death.

    Additionally, Murad offered prayers for the bereaved family to have patience and directed the administration to provide them with support.

    CTD neutralises two Fitna al-Khawarij in Karachi

    KARACHI: The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) of Sindh police neutralised two Fitna al-Khawarij operatives in Karachi during an IBO, ARY News reported on Thursday.

    According to the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) spokesperson, an intelligence-based operation was carried out near Mochko on Hub River Road following reports of militant presence.

    The CTD and other law enforcement agencies conducted a raid during which a fierce exchange of fire took place, resulting in the killing of two militants.

    The CTD spokesperson confirmed the recovery of a suicide vest, a Kalashnikov rifle, a pistol, and explosive materials from the terrorists.

    The Bomb Disposal Squad was immediately called to the scene to defuse the recovered suicide vest.

    The operation was conducted on information regarding the presence of militants affiliated with the outlawed group Fitna al-Khawarij, the spokesperson added.

    Earlier in April, the Sindh Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) apprehended an alleged terrorist affiliated with the banned outfit Zainabiyun Brigade during an operation conducted in the Soldier Bazar area.

    According to a CTD spokesperson on Saturday, the accused, Syed Muhammad Moosa Rizvi alias Kamran, son of Syed Nafees Abbas Rizvi, was arrested following a targeted operation. Rizvi had been in a hide, fearing arrest due to his active involvement in terrorist activities.

    In a shocking incident, a 10-year-old girl was abducted during a train journey from Faisalabad to Karachi, after her family was drugged, ARY News reported on Monday.

    According to kidnapped girl Inaya’s mother, they were travelling to Karachi from Faisalabad, during which they were drugged with lassi by fellow passengers near Sukkur.

    Inaya’s mother, Shagufta Bibi, reported that she was traveling with her three children on the Shalimar Express when unknown individuals offered them lassi.

    Shortly after drinking it, she and her elder daughter fell unconscious. Upon regaining consciousness near Landhi Station, she discovered Inaya missing along with the suspects who had shared the compartment.

    The incident occurred on May 28, and a formal FIR has been registered at the Karachi Cantt Railway station police.

    However, four days later, the child remains missing, and the family claims that no significant progress has been made by the police so far.

    Earlier, a seven-year-old girl was abducted while playing outside her residence in Gharo, Thatta.

    ARY News obtained the video in which a man was seen kidnapping the girl. Local police initiated the probe and SSP Thatta Dr. Imran Niazi ordered his ordinates to check all roads of the district.

    KARACHI: An online bike rider was shot and killed during a robbery attempt at Shah Faisal Bridge in Karachi, ARY News reported on Saturday.

    The victim, identified as Nadeem Ahmed, was a resident of Korangi and a father of three, according to police.

    Family members revealed that Nadeem was a muezzin at a local mosque and had been working part-time for a bike-hailing service to support his family amid financial difficulties.

    According to police, Nadeem had visited relatives near Nagan Chowrangi, North Karachi, and was returning home when he was intercepted by armed dacoits at Shah Faisal Bridge. He was shot dead after resisting the robbery attempt.

    Local residents of Shah Faisal colony and the victim’s family have expressed deep concern over the rising number of robbery incidents at Shah Faisal Bridge. They criticized the police and authorities for their failure to take effective action against criminal elements in the area.

    Earlier, ARY News reported that at least 31 Karachi citizens have been killed so far in 2025 for resisting robberies as the latest victim of armed dacoits is a man from Korangi area of the city.

    According to police, the man who was shot during a robbery attempt in Korangi’s Zaman Town Tuesday night succumbed to his injuries and died at Jinnah Hospital.

    The deceased, identified as Irfan, was shot in the leg during the incident and was being treated at the hospital. The police said that Irfan was provided medical aid at a hospital last night and was later discharged.

    However, his condition worsened, and he was readmitted to the hospital, where he died during treatment.

    This incident brought the total number of people killed in robbery attempts in Karachi this year to 31.

    Mustafa Amir’s remains exhumed for DNA samples

    KARACHI: Following the court orders, Sindh health department’s medical team exhumed body of Mustafa Amir for DNA samples, ARY News reported on Friday. 

    Mustafa Amir was kidnapped and allegedly murdered by his friends in Karachi’s Defence Housing Authority (DHA) on January 6. According to the police, the youth’s friends stuffed his body in the trunk of his car and torched it in the Hub area of Balochistan.

    The exhumation of Mustafa Amir’s body for samples was conducted under the supervision of medical team formed under leadership of Police Surgeon Dr. Summaiya Syed, comprising Dr. Shri Chand and Medico-Legal Officer Dr. Kamran Khan at Mawach Goth graveyard.

    The team collected 11 samples from body, which would be sent to a forensic laboratory of Karachi University for DNA report. The report will get ready in three to four days, the board added.

    Till then, the body will remain in the morgue of Edhi Foundation.

    On Thursday, police claimed that the suspect, Armaghan, has confessed to the murder of Mustafa Amir during interrogation.

    According to police authorities, Armaghan’s statement was recorded on video.

    In his confessional statement to police, Armaghan revealed that he drove Mustafa Amir’s car from Khayaban-e-Mohafiz to Dareji.

    He later set the vehicle on fire while Mustafa was still alive and semi-conscious. The suspect admitted to assaulting his friend, firing three warning shots with a rifle that did not hit him.

    Armaghan also disclosed that on February 8, he saw the police entering his bungalow late. He claimed that had he spotted them earlier, a prolonged exchange of fire could have taken place, the police said.

    KARACHI: Another citizen fell prey to heavy traffic in Karachi as a man lost his life after being hit by a water tanker in the city, ARY News reported citing rescue sources.

    According to details, the tragic incident occurred near Jail Chowrangi in which a speedy water tanker hit a motorcyclist. The man sustained severe injuries and died on the spot.

    The deceased was identified as Gulshan Rasheed. His dead body has been shifted to a hospital for legal and medical formalities.

    Meanwhile, the incident sparked widespread outrage, with enraged citizens setting fire to five water tankers. The fire brigade promptly responded to the situation and extinguished the flames.

    Karachi has witnessed a disturbing surge in traffic accidents, with a total of 107 lives lost in just the first 45 days of 2025, the rescue service said. The victims include 78 men, 14 women, 11 children and 4 girls.

    According to a report by the Chhipa Welfare Association, in addition to the fatalities, at least 1493 citizens were injured in these accidents.  The injured include 6290 men, 193 women, 42 children and 18 girls.

    The traffic police said that most accidents involved heavy vehicles, including dumpers, trailers, and oil tankers. In January and the first six days of February 2025, 32 accidents involved heavy traffic.

    In response to the rising number of accidents, the traffic police have taken action, issuing 34,655 challans and arresting 490 drivers. Additionally, 532 vehicle fitness certificates were cancelled.

    A four-member committee has been formed to investigate the causes of the accidents and suggest measures to improve road safety. The committee will review the fitness certificates of oil tanker dumpers and water tankers as well as and licenses of those driving the vehicles.

    During the last few days, in response to traffic accidents, several cargo vehicles and water tankers were set on fire by unknown persons in Karachi’s Landhi, Korangi, Al-Karam and Surjani Town areas.

    Police recovered a 15-year-old Karachi girl from Naushehro Feroze, who was allegedly kidnapped from the city’s Gulshan-e-Iqbal, ARY News reported on Friday.

    According to authorities, the Karachi girl had been reported missing since January 17.

    The girl’s family had filed an official complaint at Gulshan-e-Iqbal police station, triggering an immediate investigation. Authorities expanded their search to multiple regions, with Naushahro Feroze emerging as a key location based on initial leads.

    Karachi police is now making arrangements to shift the girl back to Karachi after her recovery from Naushehro Feroze district of the province.

    According to preliminary reports, the police are also interrogating individuals believed to be connected to alleged kidnapping of Karachi girl.

    Additional evidence is being gathered to determine the exact circumstances of the girl’s disappearance and identify any accomplices.

    The recovery of the girl brings relief to her family, who had been awaiting news of her safety for several days. Police officials have stated that the girl will be handed over to her family after completing legal formalities.

    Karachi has registered a spike in kidnapping cases in the recent past.

    On January 15, two little boys went missing in the Garden area of the port city.

    The missing children included 5-year-old Aliyan and 6-year-old Ali. Families of the missing children filed an FIR under the sections of kidnapping or abducting in the Garden police station.

    According to the parents, the missing boys were friends and playing outside their homes when they went missing.

    KARACHI: In a tragic turn of events in Karachi, another man was killed while resisting a robbery attempt at his tyre shop near the government Islamia Law college, ARY News reported.

    According to reports, the incident took place near Islamia College roundabout, where the victim, Hassan Arif, was working at his tyre shop when armed assailants entered intending to rob him.

    Hassan, who was in the shop at the time, attempted to resist the robbery. However, one of the assailants shot him in the chest, inflicting fatal wounds.

    The police stated that the area was busy, with a rally passing nearby during the shooting, and added that the robbers managed to flee easily.

    Local authorities have launched an investigation into the incident and are working to track down the assailants.

    This tragic event highlights the growing concerns about safety and rising crime rates in Karachi, with residents and business owners calling for stronger security measures to prevent such incidents.

    Eyewitnesses reported that the victim, identified as Muhammad Saeed, had withdrawn cash and was standing aside after noticing someone approaching.

    The assailants, riding a motorcycle attempted to rob him, the deceased however opted to resist, as a result, the robbers fired 4-5 shots as they fled the scene of the crime.

    Earlier, on 24 Oct a man was gunned down by robbers during a mugging incident in the Ahsanabad area near the Site Superhighway.

    The victim was returning home after selling his wife’s jewellery to finance his daughter’s treatment.

    He received three bullets by the muggers who robbed him on the way. The robbers escaped after committing crime.

    According to a report released by Citizens-Police Liaison Committee (CPLC) in August Karachi witnessed a surge in street crime, with 5,960 incidents reported in the month alone.

    The city saw a rise in street crime, including vehicle theft, with 23 cars stolen at gunpoint and 150 cars stolen.

    The report stated that the motorcycles were also a target, with 656 stolen and 3385 reported stolen from various areas of the city.

    Furthermore, robbers snatched 1737 mobile phones from citizens, while 3 cases of kidnapping for ransom and 6 cases of extortion were also reported.

    KARACHI: Residents near Garden Fawara Chowk are expressing anger after a tragic incident where two children and a young man lost their lives after falling into a well.

    The eyewitnesses alleged that all the three individuals including two children can be save but the rescue officials delayed response costs three lives.

    As per the details, the local residents took the matters into their own hands and without oxygen masks or safety equipment or any expectation of payment three laborers went down into the well and retrieved the bodies, as the rescue team struggled to do so.

    The community is questioning the competence of rescue agencies, who they say failed to save the victims.

    Eyewitnesses recounted that the children and a plumber, who had heroically tried to save them, were heard calling for help for 15 to 20 minutes before falling silent.

    The plumber had tied the children together and attempted to lift them with a rope, but tragically, the rope broke.

    Residents voiced their frustration over the slow response from rescue personnel and the failed operation, with many believing that timely action could have saved the lives of those trapped in the well.
