    Two children die after falling into well in Karachi

    KARACHI: A tragic incident was reported from Karachi’s Garden West area, where two children and a young man lost their lives after falling into a well near Fawara Chowk, ARY News reported on Sunday.

    According to the police, the children, aged between 10 and 12 identified as Badar and Talha, were playing cricket when they accidentally fell into the well.

    A young man, who attempted to rescue the children, was also trapped inside the well.

    However, upon receiving information about the incident, the area police and other rescue officials rushed to the scene to rescue the trapped individual and children.

    The rescue operation faced significant challenges due to the lack of oxygen in the well. Rescue workers had to descend into the well equipped with oxygen masks and cylinders to carry out their efforts.

    However, despite their best efforts, all the three trapped individuals lost their lives.

    The rescue officials recovered the bodies of the two children and the young man from the well.

    Police reveal new details in Karsaz accident case

    KARACHI: The Karachi police have decided to form a special investigation team to probe the Karsaz accident case registered against a woman.

    The suspect has been booked for killing Imran Arif, aged 60, and his daughter Amna Arif near the Karsaz area on August 19. According to the police investigative team, all CCTV footage recordings have been collected and are being examined by investigators. The blood test report of the female driver is expected within the next 24 hours.

    Based on the medical reports, more sections may be added to the FIR and the future course of action for the investigation will be decided, according to the investigative team.

    As per the investigation, the woman is constantly changing her statements. According to police sources, the suspect was traveling from her home in DHA Scheme-I to her in-laws’ residence, a distance of approximately 3-4 kilometers, when the incident occurred. The police team has confirmed that the suspect’s vehicle was registered under a private company’s name.

    The investigation revealed the addition of new sections to the case, including Section 322 Qatal-bis-Sabab (murder without intention), which entails a punishment of blood money. Under the section 322, the accused will get a punishment ranging from 10 to 18 years in prison.

    Furthermore, the victim’s family may opt for a settlement, known as diyat (blood money) which would require the suspect to pay a compensation amount equivalent to 30,360 grams of silver, valued at approximately Rs 6.8 million.

    If the family accepts the settlement, the case may be closed. Meanwhile, the police team is working to obtain more CCTV footages to aid in the investigation. On Friday, DIG East urged others who were injured or had property damaged in the accident to come forward and record their statements with the police.

    The DIG assured that the investigation is ongoing and justice will be provided to the heirs of the deceased father and daughter. He also visited the residence of the victims in Gulzar-i-Hijri, Scheme-33 and offered condolences to the bereaved family and assured them of full legal support. DIG Mahesar vowed that the police will ensure fairness at all levels.

    It should be noted that the woman — who ran over Amna, Imran Arif and injured five others on Monday at the Karsaz Road — is currently in judicial custody following orders by a Karachi East court a day after it ordered its production in the court and sought a medical report regarding the suspect.

    KARACHI: New Close Circuit Television (CCTV) footage of the Karsaz accident that claimed the lives of a father and a daughter, emerged on Friday, ARY News reported. 

    A father and daughter were killed after being rammed by a speeding SUV at Karsaz, earlier this week at Karsaz Road in Karachi.

    In the footage, obtained by ARY News, the SUV was seen speeding in a service lane. The CCTV footage showed the SUV hitting a white color vehicle and a motorbike before crashing into the motorcycle, which led to the killing of 26-year-old Amna Arif and her 60-year-old father, Imran Arif.

    According to police, in an attempt to flee the scene after hitting a two and four-wheeler, the woman driver crashed into another motorcycle on the service lane, resulting in the death of the daughter and father, the police said.

    In a shocking incident, police found the bodies of two children with torture marks and feet tied from a clinic in Karachi’s Machar Colony.

    As per details, Police have said that the kids were given sleeping pills in milk by quack doctor, Abdul Karim, before killing them.

    Police have claimed that they have arrested a man named Abdul Karim, son of Ataullah, a resident of Korangi, who runs a clinic in the Maripur area of the city.

    The Force said, the suspect also kept searching for the kids along with their father in order to conceal his crime.

    The police said that the man has confessed that he had kidnapped children for ransom.

    Siraj, the father of the deceased children, and a relative spoke to the media regarding the tragic incident.

    Meanwhile, Siraj, the father of the deceased children said they were at the clinic of the quack doctor. When children’s sister went to bring her brothers in the afternoon, Abdul Karim told her that they had already left, he added.

    A relative of the children added that the suspect confessed he intended to demand ransom from the children’s father.

    KARACHI: The preliminary investigation revealed that two suspects conducted recce on Martyr DSP Ali Raza for months before carrying out the attack outside his home, ARY News reported on Monday.

    The investigation sources released a report after completing the initial probe on the murder of Martyr DSP Ali Raza, unveiling critical details about the premeditated nature of the crime.

    According to investigative sources, DSP Ali Raza had been under surveillance for four months, with the suspects meticulously monitoring his movements at various locations.

    The report reveals that DSP Ali Raza was observed during his daily visits to a specific residential apartment.

    As per the report, two suspects on a motorcycle were waiting for Ali Raza before he arrived at the apartment.

    On the day of the incident, he followed his routine and arrived at the apartment. The attackers were well-informed that his car was bomb-proof and that he was armed, as soon as he exited his car and approached the apartment, the assailants opened fire.

    Investigative sources confirmed the recovery of 11 bullet shells from the crime scene, with Ali Raza sustaining four bullet wounds, two in the back, one in the neck, and one in the head.

    The ongoing investigation also revealed that only one weapon was used in the incidents.

    Authorities are currently geomapping the suspects’ arrival and escape routes, verifying eyewitness statements, and striving to obtain CCTV footage of the incident.

    Meanwhile, in the absence of footage, sketches of the suspects will be created based on witness descriptions.

    KARACHI: The number of mysterious deaths in Karachi has risen to 17 within one day span as rescue services found seven more bodies from different areas of the city on Monday, ARY News reported.

    According to rescue officials, most of the individuals were believed to be drug addicts and died of extreme heatwave in the city. The ages of the deceased persons ranging from 35 to 60 years.

    The rescue officials said that six bodies were found in Jama Cloth Market, Golimar, Super Highway, Gulistan-e-Johar, Federal B Area and Landhi, while a tortured body was found near Surjani Town’s Fatima Society.

    The bodies were shifted to the relevant police stations and then to the morgue for further action. The identification process of the bodies is underway.

    It is worth mentioning here that 10 dead bodies were found in different areas of Karachi on Sunday in mysterious circumstances.

    The bodies were discovered in different locations, including KMC ground Lyari, Golimar, Jahangir Road, Landhi, Godam Chowrangi, Defense Phase 7, Orangi Town Sector 15, and Khamiso Goth.

    The police officials initiated an urgent investigation to determine the cause of death and establish any potential connections between the incidents.

    Scrap dealers attacked a police station in Karachi to get their men released from the lock up, ARY News reported on Friday, quoting police.

    As per details shared by police, over 80 scrap dealers led by their president Iqbal Rind stormed Gulistan-e-Jauhar police station of the port city to get their three men released from the jail.

    Police said scrap dealers were arrested for buying spare parts of the snatched motorcycles. The police reacted to the attack and managed to arrest scrap dealers.

    Police have registered two cases of the incident against the scrap dealers at the Gulistan-e-Jauhar police station against over 80 people including six arrested.

    Raids were being conducted to arrest their accomplices. Police recovered spare parts of stolen bikes from the arrested suspects. Further investigation is underway.

    KARACHI: The Karachi police have failed to stem the rising tide of violent street crimes as another man was shot dead by muggers when he tried to resist a robbery attempt in Malir, ARY News reported on Friday.

    A 55-year-old man – identified as Haider Raza – was returning home from a bank after withdrawing his salary when unknown assailants opened fire on him outside his house in Saudabad area of Malir district.

    Haider Raza – who was a government employee and also a rickshaw driver – was returning home from a bank when suspected robbers riding a motorcycle pulled over beside him near the victim’s house.

    One of his accomplices got down, walked up to Raza, and asked him at gunpoint to hand over his cash and cell-phone. When Raza offered resistance, he shot him, killing him on the spot.

    A rescue ambulance shifted the body to the hospital for medico-legal formalities.

    Over 100 people have been killed in robbery attempts in Karachi during the current year.

    Earlier in October, a young man was gunned down by armed robbers over resistance in Karachi’s Gulistan-e-Jauhar.

    The unfortunate turn of events unfolded when two armed suspects on a motorcycle intercepted the young man – identified as Muhammad Saad – near Johar Mor.

    As soon as he offered some resistance one of them shot him and rode away, the police said. The body was shifted to hospital to fulfil medico-legal formalities.

    KARACHI: A robbery incident was reported in the New Karachi area, where four armed robbers looted dozens of civilians sitting in a hotel late at night, ARY News reported on Thursday.

    A CCTV footage came to light which shows four armed robbers on two motorbikes approaching the people sitting near the tea hotel, looting some young boys sitting beside the road.

    The footage showed the two robbers first looted the citizens and then looted the cash counter of the hotel, while one of the robbers can be seen drinking water from the cooler.

    The bandits looted the youth sitting in a hotel for more than three minutes and took more than 10 mobile phones and cash from the people sitting at the hotel.

    KARACHI: A shooting incident came to light from Karachi’s Liyari Rexer line area, in which a customs officer was reportedly murdered by unknown armed assailants, ARY News reported on Friday.

    ARY News acquired the CCTV footage of the incident, which showed that two unknown suspects dressed in Shalwar Kameez on a two-wheeler 70cc motorcycle passing through the street, the person sitting behind the rider was wearing a helmet.

    The police officials stated that the customs officer caught five bullets in the attack while confirming that the incident was not a robbery attempt but a targeted killing.

    As per the police statement, the victim’s mobile phone has been found, meanwhile, the preliminary investigation revealed that the incident occurred due to personal enmity, however, the police are conducting a thorough investigation into the case to nab the culprits.

    The police stated that the case would be registered after the completion of the deceased’s religious rituals.

    Earlier this week, a police sub-inspector was shot dead by unidentified armed men for ‘resisting robbery’ in Karachi.

    According to reports, the shooting incident occurred near the Site Super Highway Hotel in Karachi, resulting in the loss of a sub-inspector named Amir Ali’s life.

    Police authorities state that the deceased, Amir Ali, was a resident of Federal B Area and was deputed to the Gulberg Complaint Cell. The victim had money with him but his motorcycle and pistol were not found from the crime scene, indicating a targeted killing in the incident.

    On the other hand, SSP East Syed Irfan Bahadur visited the scene and spoke to the media, mentioning that the late Amir was returning from Wadiye-e-Hussain Cemetery.
