    To return or not to return?: PTI’s parliamentary party takes decision

    ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman and former premier Imran Khan has rejected to return to the National Assembly (NA) and said that there was no option other than fresh polls, ARY News reported on Monday.

    Imran Khan chaired the session of the PTI parliamentary party today. The participants of the PTI parliamentary party session discussed the political situation of the country.

    Sources told ARY News that the parliamentary party rejected to return to the assembly at any cost and decided to not accept any option other than fresh polls.

    Imran Khan issued instructions to the parliamentary party to commence preparations for elections. “PTI leaders should reach the nationals. The current rulers want to spread fear among the people. I will not step back from the struggle for real independence.”

    Moreover, the PTI chief apprised the parliamentary party members about the next strategy. During the session, PTI Secretary-General Asad Umar assigned tasks to the members and formed teams for taking part in forthcoming by-elections.

    Sources said that Khan will activate the PTI workers before addressing the upcoming public gatherings. “Whole party will participate in the electioneering of the by-polls which will be contested following the same strategy of Punjab by-elections,” sources added.

    ‘Lockdown in all cities’

    Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has devised a strategy to mount pressure on the federal government to refrain from arresting the party chief Imran Khan.

    Sources said that Asad Umar informed the parliamentary party members about the strategy. He expressed hope that Khan will not be arrested but in another case, there will be a lockdown in all cities if the PTI chief is arrested.

    “District presidents have already been briefed about the procedure of locking down the cities. All PTI workers will head toward Islamabad on the next day after observing lockdown.”

    A Member of the National Assembly (MNA) Junaid Akram expressed his views that PTI would be stronger if it is present in the NA. To this, Khan replied that PTI will lose public support if its lawmakers chose to stay in the assembly.

    PTI women leaders meet Imran Khan

    The former women lawmakers of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) called on Imran Khan. They exchanged views on the political situation, organisational activities and strategy.

    They strongly condemned crackdowns on PTI and media censorship initiated by the coalition government. Imran Khan thanked PTI leaders for providing the right guidance and best leadership amid the political instability in the country.

    ISLAMABAD: Former Prime Minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan met Chief Minister Punjab Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi and discussed the country’s current political situation, ARY News reported on Monday.

    According to details, matters related to the country’s current political situation and public welfare projects in Punjab were discussed during the meeting. The meeting was also attended by Moonis Elahi.

    Both the leaders also discussed rescue and relief operations in Rajanpur, Taunsa and Dera Ghazi Khan. Imran Khan directed CM Pervaiz Elahi to use all available resources to help the flood-hit victims.

    The former premier was apprised of the measures taken by the provincial government for the flood-affectees. CM Punjab noted that the government has carried out comprehensive planning to provide relief to flood victims.

    “The concerned department of the Punjab government and the administration is working continuously to help the victims”, he added.

    He pointed out that the government has set up medical camps along with relief camps in the affected areas, maintaining that he was personally overseeing the rescue and relief operations.

    Imran Khan lauded the initiatives for the rehabilitation of the flood victims under the leadership of CM Pervaiz Elahi.

    Meanwhile, Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi and Moonis Elahi congratulated Imran Khan over Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) success in NA-245 Karachi by-election.

    He also expressed serious concern over the retaliatory actions against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, vowing the Punjab government’s support in every situation.

    The rumours of the arrest of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman and former premier Imran Khan have swirled on social media, ARY News reported on Sunday.

    The rumours of Imran Khan’s arrest turned out to be just propaganda as routine police deployment was seen at the PTI chief’s Bani Gala residence.

    According to ARY News correspondent, routine police security was seen at the Bani Gala residence as six to seven cops were deployed there.

    A large number of PTI workers gathered outside Imran Khan’s residence, whereas, the central leaders also reached Bani Gala. Moreover, PTI activists have also gathered at Lahore’s Liberty Chowk.

    The PTI workers raised slogans in the support of Imran Khan and ARY News.

    Earlier, it emerged that police teams blocked the routes leading to Bani Gala residence of Imran Khan.

    Unauthorised persons have been banned from travelling through the routes leading to Imran Khan’s residence. Police installed barbed wire to seal the routes, whereas, heavy contingents of the Frontier Corps (FC) were deployed.

    The street lights of Imran Khan Chowk were turned off. Following the unusual movement, dozens of PTI workers reached Imran Khan Chowk.

    The PTI leader Murad Saeed also claimed that the arrest warrant for Imran Khan was issued. He also called PTI workers to stay alert.

    The development came after a terrorism case was against PTI Imran Khan under anti-terrorism for threatening an additional session judge.

    According to details, an anti-terrorism case has been filed against Imran Khan for using derogatory language and threatening Additional Session Judge Zeba Chaudhry in his speech in Islamabad on August 20.

    Sources say that the text of the PTI chief’s August 20 speech has also been included in the FIR.

    Rana Sanaullah’s statement

    Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah said earlier in the day that the PTI chief should get ready to face the law as he verbally threatened the IG, DIG and Magistrate Islamabad.

    He added that the PTI chairman will have to be answerable for threatening the officers. Pakistan would turn into a jungle if the law did not take its way, Rana added.

    Rana added that they could not let people challenge the government’s writ because it would fan extremism. PTI Cheif, addressing a party rally in Islamabad, said that they would lodge cases against the officers for torturing PTI leader Shahbaz Gill.

    ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan has directed to provide maximum legal and moral assistance to Shahbaz Gill besides expressing serious concerns over subjecting the politician to severe torture in police custody, ARY News reported on Friday.

    Imran Khan chaired a consultative session today for reviewing the current political situation and PTI’s strategy. He directed the party leaders to expedite the preparations for the PTI rally scheduled on August 21.

    Imran Khan will also lead a rally in Rawalpindi on Saturday (tomorrow) which will be concluded at F-9 Park Islamabad to demand the release of Gill.

    The former premier directed the PTI legal team to vigorously fight Gill’s case.

    Earlier in the day, an Islamabad court suspended the physical remand of PTI leader Shahbaz Gill until Monday after reserving a verdict on a police plea for his eight-day physical remand in a case under sedition charges.

    The court while rejecting the plea for extension in physical remand, directed the Islamabad police to transfer him to PIMS Hospital and conduct a complete medical check-up of the suspect.

    During the session, Khan also expressed concerns over the suspension of ARY News transmission. He said that ARY News was being deliberately victimised by such revengeful moves. The PTI chief expressed sorrow that it was deplorable to not restore the ARY News transmission despite court orders.

    In another development today, the Sindh High Court (SHC) rejected a plea from the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) to annul a stay order on a show-cause notice issued by the authority to ARY NEWS.

    During the last hearing, the Sindh High Court (SHC) on Wednesday issued the written order regarding the restoration of the ARY News transmission and sought a compliance report from the parties within two days.

    The high court stated in its four-page written order that the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) has the power to take disciplinary action against those creating hurdles in the transmission of the television channels.

    The senator said the party’s chairman would have slapped the person who did it instead of him but is a loving person. He added that he did not do it on purpose.

    He said they talked about the “interesting” moment, adding he would tell the reaction of Imran Khan later.

    LAHORE: PTI Chairman Imran Khan will address a public rally in Karachi on August 19 while the party has also decided to raise issues of suspension of transmission of ARY NEWS and ban on journalists, ARY NEWS reported.

    The decisions were taken by the PTI in a consultative meeting headed by Imran Khan today, where the participants agreed to give stiff resistance against actions being taken against ARY NEWS and multiple journalists.

    “I will not tolerate any attempt to ban media,” Khan said during the meeting. “ARY NEWS is being punished for presenting my case before the nation.”

    Sources privy to the decisions in the meeting said that the PTI has decided to further exert pressure on the ‘imported government’ for early elections and approval was given for holding public rallies in multiple cities across the country.

    “Public gatherings will be held in Karachi, Rawalpindi and other major urban centres,” they said, adding the first power show of the party will be held in Karachi on August 19.

    It was also decided that Imran Khan will personally lead election campaigns in nine constituencies.

    ISLAMABAD: CCTV footage of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader and Imran Khan’s Chief of Staff, Dr Shahbaz Gill has surfaced which showed police officials dragging him out of his vehicle, ARY News reported.

    The CCTV footage showed a group of police officials stopped Shahbaz Gill’s vehicle at Imran Khan Chowk. One of the cops broke the window glass of his vehicle by hammering the gun.

    Later, the police officials dragged Gill out of his vehicle and went away from the scene. The CCTV footage also showed that the cop shifted Gill to another vehicle.

    Earlier in the day, PTI senior leader and Imran Khan’s Chief Of Staff Dr Shahbaz Gill has been arrested from Islamabad.

    The news was confirmed by the former federal minister and PTI leader Murad Saeed on his Twitter handle.

    As per reports, Dr Shahbaz Gill was taken into custody when he was going to Bani Gala to meet PTI chairman Imran Khan. A case of incitement to rebellion has been registered against Shahbaz Gill in the Bani Gala police station.

    In another development, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has decided to approach the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) and Islamabad High Court (IHC) against the arrest of PTI leader Shahbaz Gill.

    According to the details, PTI has prepared an application against the arrest of Gill. The application has been prepared by PTI leader Ali Awan. While PTI leader Faisal Chaudhry announced that the party will approach the IHC against the arrest.

    He added that despite multiple inquiries they have not been informed about where the PTI is detained. They have visited five police stations, but have not been able to locate Gill, he added.

    Faisal said that they approached the FIA as well but could not know Gill’s location.

    Rana Sanaullah’s statement

    In his press conference, Sanaullah said that Dr Shahbaz Gill has been arrested in accordance with the law. He declared the arrest of PTI leader Dr Shahbaz Gill legal. He said that a case was registered against Gill at Islamabad’s Kohsar police station.

    He said that Gill will be presented before the court on Wednesday morning.

    Imran Khan has condemned the arrest of Dr Shahbaz Gill and the suspension of ARY News transmission.

    Imran Khan gave an exclusive interview to ARY News, saying that he has decided to fight for real independence. He added, ‘This is not about politics but jihad.”

    Commenting on Gill’s arrest, Imran Khan termed it an ‘abduction’. He said, “Shahbaz Gill was arrested without any arrest warrant. His driver was tortured and his vehicle was damaged. If he has violated any law, then they should send him to jail. Gill was not arrested but abducted.”

    The PTI chief said that they will take necessary action against those who carried out atrocities on May 25 during Azadi March. “Women and children were tortured, the sanctity of house was violated but the current rulers were not afraid of any action against them.”

    The news was confirmed by the former federal minister and PTI leader Murad Saeed on his Twitter handle.

    As per reports, Dr Shahbaz Gill was taken into custody when he was going to Bani Gala to meet PTI chairman Imran Khan. A case of incitement to rebellion has been registered against Shahbaz Gill in the Bani Gala police station.

    Talking to ARY News, Fawad Chaudhry alleged that he was taken into custody by the personnel in civil dress and he was tortured at Bani Gala Chowk.

    He was dragged out of the vehicle, Fawad Chaudhry said and added they have no information who has arrested his party fellow and charges are yet to be unknown.

    Earlier, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader and former SAPM, Dr Shahbaz Gill had warned Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah of arrest if he fails to appear before a committee probing incidents of torture over Azadi March participant.

    Dr Shahbaz Gill in his tweet said that the committee will initiate action in the upcoming few days in the May 25 torture incidents.
