KARACHI: Two youths were injured on Monday after being run over by a double cabin vehicle reportedly owned by Zafar Abbas of the JDC Foundation in the Ancholi area of Karachi, ARY News reported.
An enraged mob gathered at the scene. The driver and other passengers managed to flee in the double cabin before the situation escalated. However, the vehicle’s number plate somehow detached and fell off during their escape.
The vehicle’s registration number confirmed that it was registered in the name of Syed Zafar Abbas.
Shortly after the incident, Zafar Abbas arrived at the scene. Eyewitnesses claimed that his team allegedly tried to snatch mobile phones from people recording videos of the incident.
A video of the aftermath quickly went viral online, showing a purported altercation between Zafar Abbas and bystanders. Zafar Abbas later assured that medical treatment would be provided to the injured.
The injured youths were shifted to a hospital, where they were reported to be in critical condition.

Earlier, today, at least one dead, three others injured when an underage driver ran over three motorcycles in Shahdara, Lahore, ARY News reported.
According to police reports, the collision occurred due to reckless driving by the underage driver, identified as Hashir, who has been arrested and charged in connection with the incident. The underage driver lost control of a car and crushed three motorcycles.
The case was registered based on a complaint filed by the brother of the deceased, identified as 30-year-old Muhammad Amin.
Inspector General (IG) of Punjab Police, Dr. Usman Anwar, took notice of the incident and expressed strong disapproval of traffic violations by underage drivers.
He issued directives to intensify crackdowns on underage driving across Punjab, emphasizing that unlicensed minors must not be allowed on the roads.
