The police said a speedy truck, numbered LIA-754, which was heavily loaded ran over a youth who was crossing the road near funeral yard on Lytton Road leaving him dead.
Eyewitness said that the driver named Qasim son of Ghulam Mustafa tried to escape from the scene but was caught by local people and physically beaten before being handed over to the Mozang police station.
The victim was identified as Salman Shaukat and worked at a milk shop. The police have impounded the vehicle.
