Hollywood star Will Smith revealed that he turned down filmmaker Christopher Nolan‘s ‘Inception’ due to confusion over the plot.

Leonardo DiCaprio later led the action thriller, which proved to be a blockbuster, grossing $839 million at the worldwide box office.

During a recent interview, Will Smith revealed that he was offered the lead role before Leonardo DiCaprio.

However, turned it down because he did not understand the plot of ‘Inception.’

“I don’t think I’ve ever said it publicly but I am going to say it because we are opening up to one another. Chris Nolan brought me ‘Inception’ first and I didn’t get it. I’ve never said that out loud,” the Hollywood actor said.

He added, “Now that I think about it, it’s those movies that go into those alternate realities… they don’t pitch well. But I am hurt by those, too.”

Reports said at the time of the casting process that Hollywood star Brad Pitt was the primary choice of Christopher Nolan for ‘Inception.’

After he declined to commit to the project, Will Smith was the next actor to be considered for the role in the blockbuster film.

He also turned down the role, and Leonardo DiCaprio was roped in for the film, which ended up as one of his biggest hit movies.

Will Smith also rued his decision to turn down Neo in ‘The Matrix,’ which went to Hollywood actor star Keanu Reeves.

“It hurts too bad to talk about,” Smith said of his decision to reject the role.
