KARACHI: In a rare emotional moment, a father voluntarily returned his escaped prisoner son to Malir Jail authorities on Thursday, ARY News reported.
The escaped inmate, identified as Ali Raza, was among those who fled during the recent Malir jailbreak.
Confirming the development, jail officials said the father personally handed over his son, stating, “I am a law-abiding citizen, and that is why I brought my son back.”
Meanwhile, the prisoner Ali Raza revealed that during the jailbreak, several inmates worked together to break open the locks of multiple barracks to help others escape. “They broke the lock of our barrack as well,” he added.
According to investigators, the jailbreak began with the breach of the juvenile barrack. Then inmates proceeded to break the locks of several others. Authorities added that only two guards were on duty to supervise 12 barracks, which made it impossible to control the situation.
Officials also stated that none of the returning inmates have reported any mistreatment or abuse after their return to the Malir Jail. The inquiry into the incident is still ongoing, they added.
