He was speaking exclusively to ARY News where he said that Akhtar had made other revelations apart from the 12th May, 2007 for which he is being investigated. He said that the has received details about several people and will request the government for a full-scale Joint Investigation Team (JIT) on the matter.
Rao Anwar said that he was posted on duty in Quetta when the incidents of violence took place in Karachi. He said that it was the duty of the Police to investigate the cases. However, since the cases are currently pending with them , it is their moral and legal responsibility to investigate them.
However, he strongly denied reports that Akhtar was tortured mentally or physically during interrogation in his judicial custody.
