A blast in an Imambargah in Hayatabad locality of Peshawar killed 20 people on Friday.

The US State Department spokesperson expressed solidarity and condoled with the families of blast victims adding that US stands with people of Pakistan in their fight against extremism and will work hand in hand with Pakistan for the cause.

She maintained that the perils of terrorism are an important part of US-Pakistan dialogue.

Answering a question, Psaki maintained that US appreciates contacts between Pakistani and Indian leadership adding the recent contacts can significantly reduce tensions between South Asian neighbours.

She further said that friendly relations between the countries are of utmost importance for peace and security in South Asia.

Two consecutive blasts at an Imambargah in Hayatabad area of Peshawar killed 20 people and left several injured.

It was the second attack on a Shiite mosque within two weeks as the last attack hit an Imambargah in Sindh’s Shikarpur district on January 30, 2015.
