Two injured in unprovoked Indian firing at LoC

RAWALPINDI: At least two people were injured when unprovoked indian firing from across the Line of Control (LoC) on Saturday morning, ARY News reported.

According to the ISPR, the Pakistan army’s media wing, Indian troops opened fire at Nezapir sector along the LoC, injuring two civilians. “The Pakistan forces effectively responded to Indian firing.”

Earlier, the United Nations had expressed its concern over escalating tensions along the LoC with UN Secretary General Antonio Guetteres’ spokesperson saying, “ the secretary general is monitoring the situation.”

The foreign office had earlier on June 01 summoned Deputy Indian High Commissioner to  protest against Indian firing, urging the New Delhi not to violate the 2003 ceasefire.

At least two people killed and six others, including four women, were injured in recent Indian firing along the LoC. According to Rawalakot Deputy Commissioner Tahir Mumtaz, Indian troops violated the ceasefire along the LoC while targeting civilian areas of Battal, Jandrot and Mandhol in Rawalakot district of Azad Jammu Kashmir (AJK) on Thursday morning.
