KARACHI: A delegation comprising officials from the British security agency, Department for Transport (DfT), will arrive in Pakistan on July 19 to review security arrangements of Pakistan’s top airports.

According to details, the British officials will pay a visit to Lahore’s Allama Iqbal International Airport and Islamabad Airport where they will inspect security arrangements for UK-bound direct flights.

The UK delegation would be briefed over security arrangements by the officials of the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA). The British officials will also visit the counters established for a joint search of baggage at the airport besides inspecting equipment being used for screening of passengers’ luggage.

UK TO INSTALL MODERN SECURITY MACHINES AT PAKISTAN AIRPORTS

The latest development is an indication that UK is planning to open its airports for Pakistani origin airlines as recent meetings between CAA, DFT and UK aviation termed extremely positive.

It is noteworthy to mention here that the United Kingdom (UK) provided the Explosive Detector machines to Pakistan for enhancing the security measures of the airports across the country.

Earlier, the UK agency had paid a three-day visit to inspect flight security at Karachi airport.
