Two arrested for torturing women over alleged theft in Lahore

LAHORE: Lahore police on Thursday night claimed to have arrested two suspects in a case pertaining to torture and mistreatment of two women over alleged theft, ARY News reported.

According to ARY News correspondent, the police arrested Ijaz Manawan and Adnan, the two shopkeepers who can be seen beating two women after accusing them of theft in a video circulating on social media. A third suspect is still at large.

On Wednesday, at least three shopkeepers from Jallo Mor Market on GT Road took two women hostage after accusing them of stealing merchandise from their shops and tortured them.

The video obtained by ARY News shows a shopkeeper identified as Chaudhry Ijza Manawan brutally torturing the women with a cane while others show two other mean torturing the duo and hurling expletives at them.

Chief Minister Punjab had taken notice of the incident and had ordered IG Punjab to investigate the matter and arrest the culprits after the video went viral.
