ISLAMABAD: Government prosecutor Akram Shaikh resumed his arguments as the special court headed by Justice Faisal Arab heard treason trial against former president Pervez Musharraf on Tuesday.
According to ARY News, Chief Prosecutor Akram Shaikh contesting the defence counsel's arguments said that the Federal Cabinet and the Federal Government are not synonyms. He said that any official of the federal government could comply the directives of the prime minister.
He further argued that the probe of the case will not be investigated by the federal cabinet but the matter has to be dealt by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA).
The government counsel also argued that the prosecution was empowered to add more names in the accused. It is the function of the prosecution and not the cabinet, the counsel said.
According to the Rules of Business any official of the federal government could act on behalf of the President, but the Prime Minister supervises the action, he added.
