QUETTA/D.G. KHAN: The family of a traffic sergeant alleged run down by Balochistan lawmaker Majeed Khan Achakzai has refuted reports of entering into a compromise or reaching an agreement with him.

Traffic official Attaullah Dashti was killed after being run down by Achakzai last week at GPO Chowk in Quetta. CCTV footage and photographs showed that Achakzai was personally driving the vehicle.

Shaista, the daughter of Dashti, has denied that their family was entering into a compromise or settlement with the lawmaker, and instead demanded justice for her slain father.

“We have neither agreed to any compromise or any compensation, nor we do want to reach any agreement,” she told ARY News. “We just want justice for our father.”

She appealed to Chief Justice of Pakistan Mian Saqib Nisar to provide justice for the killing of her father, and demanded that Achakzai been given an exemplary punishment for his deed.

“We demand that he (Achakzai) be hanged at the same spot where he trampled our father, so that he could be made an example,” she asserted.

Another daughter also made a similar call for justice and rejected any possibility of reaching a compromise or settlement. “We want justice, we not want a compromise,” she said. An elderly family member echoed a similar demand.

Dashti hailed from Dera Ghazi Khan. Achakzai was reportedly planning to visit the family of the slain traffic official to reach a settlement before he was arrested.

Chief Justice of Pakistan on Wednesday took suo motu notice of the incident. An Anti-Terrorism Court on Thursday remanded him for seven days into police custody.
