LAHORE: Teenage accused, Afnan Shafqat, who was involved in the deadly road crash in Phase-VII of the Defence Housing Authority (DHA), seeks bail from court, ARY News reported on Saturday.
The sessions court conducted hearing of the bail petition of accused Afnan.
The court summoned the case record from police.
“The accused has been nominated in road mishap in Defence. It was an accident,” defence lawyer pleaded.
The lawyer while pleading for releasing the accused on bail, said that the accused has been an underage youth.
The complainant’s lawyer said that the FIR of the case included clauses of the anti-terrorism law. “The accused should be sent to the anti-terrorism court for bail in the case,” counsel said.
The plaintiff’s lawyer also pleaded to court to dismiss the bail plea of the accused Afnan.
It was earlier learned that teenage accused, Afnan Shafqat, ‘intentionally’ rammed his car into the car of the victim family, in the deadly road crash in DHA.
The incident resulted in the loss of six members of family including Rukhsana Bibi (45), her son Husnain (25), daughter-in-law Ayesha (23), her son-in-law Sajjad (30), four-month-old grandson Huzaifa, and granddaughter Anaya (4).
The family had just reached DHA Phase VII, when a reckless car driven by Afnan collided with the vehicle.
The suspect was alone in the car when people rescued him and handed over to the police. He was sent on judicial remand by the judicial magistrate at Cantonment Courts on Wednesday.
