GUIZHOU, CHINA: On Sunday China hoisted the final piece into position on what will be the world's largest radio telescope, which it will use to explore space and help in the hunt for extraterrestrial life, state media said.

The US Defence Department plans to buy 404 Lockheed Martin Corp F-35 fighter jets over the next five years, a net decrease of 5 to 7 per cent from last year's plan, sources familiar with the plans told Reuters.
