In order to finalize a date for reopening of educational institutions across the country, Federal Education Minister Shafqat Mahmood has summoned an meeting of the provincial health and education ministers on Friday.

On Jan 4, a meeting of education ministers had decided to reopen educational institutions across the country in a phase-wise manner with classes nine to 12 resuming in the first phase on January 18

The NCOC in its declaration stated that the academic sessions of secondary students from Class VI to Class VIII will be resumed across the country from September 23 (tomorrow).

Malik Abrar Hussain said that more delay will be harmful to the students as five precious months of the academic year has already been lost

'All schools will teach a uniform curriculum from April 2020'

The minister said that the reopening of schools could lead to a new wave of coronavirus cases in the country.

Murad Rass said final decision about reopening of schools in Punjab will be taken in the first week of August. 

The meeting would be attended by chief ministers of all the provinces.

Sindh Education Minister Saeed Ghani on Wednesday opposed reopening of educational institutes from 1st of June.
