    For the unversed, David Justice recently revealed the shocking reason for his divorce from Halle Berry, after only three years of marriage, saying he was keen on starting a family but did not find the actor ‘motherly’ enough for his children, as she would not ‘cook and clean’ like his mother used to do.

    Days after, as she celebrated her 59th birthday with her current partner, musician Van Hunt, the mother of two seemingly took a dig at her first husband, through the caption of her Instagram dump.

    “Phew…! cooking, cleaning and mothering,” she wrote alongside the 10-slide carousel post, featuring some glimpses of her tropical vacation, to celebrate her final birthday, before entering her 60s next year.

    Notably, Berry’s marriage to baseball player David Justice, whom she had met at a celebrity game in 1992, lasted for three years before they parted ways in 1996.

    She was then married to Grammy-nominated R&B singer Eric Benét for a couple of years. In her third marriage, the ‘Catwoman’ actor was married to French actor Olivier Martinez for two years and shared a son with him.

    Moreover, Berry also shares an elder daughter with her former partner, Canadian model Gabriel Aubry.

    Baseball outfielder and ex-husband of Hollywood diva Halle Berry, David Justice, revealed the shocking reason their marriage ended after three years.

    In his latest podcast appearance on ‘All the Smoke’, David Justice, 59, who was married to Halle Berry, 58, from 1993 to 1996, in both their first marriage, revealed that their relationship ended this soon, mainly because he was planning to have kids with the Hollywood A-lister, and did not find her ‘motherly’ enough for his children.

    “My knowledge and my understanding, my wisdom around relationships just wasn’t vast,” Justice confessed, adding that it was only about five months into marriage and the two were still in the ‘honeymoon state’ when he began having doubts.

    “So, I’m looking at my mom — and I’m a Midwest guy. So, in my mind, I’m thinking a wife at that time should cook, clean, [be] traditional, you know? Then I’m thinking, ‘OK, if we have kids, is this the woman I want to have kids with and build a family with?’ At that time, as a young guy — she don’t cook, don’t clean, don’t really seem like motherly, and then we start having issues,” he explained.

    According to Justice, another major reason was that he and Berry ‘spent a lot of time apart’ owing to their different careers.

    “Honestly, we probably could have made it if I knew about therapy. If we knew about therapy, we probably could have made it,” Justice admitted in the end.

    David Justice has opened up about the reasons behind his split from Halle Berry, sharing details about their short-lived marriage during an appearance on the All the Smoke podcast.

    David Justice, now 59, married Halle Berry in 1993 after a whirlwind romance. He revealed that Berry had proposed to him just five months after they met.

    At the time, he agreed, but he admitted he was unsure if his heart was fully committed.

    According to David Justice, the early months of marriage were smooth, but by the fifth month, he began thinking about starting a family and questioning if Berry was the partner he wanted for that stage of life.

    He explained that his traditional expectations clashed with Berry’s lifestyle and that they began to have differences.

    David Justice also said their busy careers created distance between them, as Berry often travelled for film work.

    He reflected that if they had considered therapy, they might have been able to save the marriage. The couple eventually separated in 1996 and finalised their divorce in 1997.

    David Justice stressed that their split was not due to major personal issues but rather a combination of youth, inexperience, and lack of communication. He later remarried in 2001 and now has three children.

    Halle Berry, now 58, has since spoken about her approach to relationships, saying she does not believe in staying with the wrong partner.

    She is currently engaged to musician Van Hunt, with whom she went public in 2020.
