The weather department has advised fishermen of Sindh coastal belt not to venture in open sea till Tuesday (today) evening, as the sea conditions are likely to continue to be rough.

The Met office claimed that the mega city of Karachi faced no threat from the cyclone.

Vayu, which had intensified into a 'very severe cyclonic storm (VSCS)', has altered its path slightly and will move North-Northwest for some time and then Northwest-wards, the weather report said.

Due to the highest ratio of the humidity in the air the ‘feels like’ temperature could shoot to 47-50°C.

Local administrations have declared emergency in Thatta, Badin and Tharparkar districts, an official said.

Home Minister Amit Shah also urged officials to ensure swift restoration of utilities such as power, telecoms and drinking water if they are disrupted by the cyclone

The sea-breeze is likely to remain cutoff on Thursday/Friday which can lead to heatwave like conditions in coastal areas of Sindh including Karachi, Heat Wave Early Warning Centre of the met office said in a statement.
