According to reports, Sonu Nigam performed the act as part of a social experiment conducted by a Youtube channel named “Being Indian”.
The passers by glanced in amazement at Nigam in disguise as he sang many popular songs and ghazals on the streets of the India’s financial hub.
After removing his disguise Sonu Nigam said, “It was a humbling experience. One man gave me Rs.12 after listening to my song. I have the rupee note framed now. I would like to meet him again and give back something.”
The channel stated that the reason of this experiment was to discover how Indians react to beauty when it is around the corner.
