KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Wednesday conducted hearing of petitions filed in a case relating to cold-blooded murder Irshad Ranjhani in Karachi on February 8, ARY News reported.
The high court provided copies of petitions to both parties and directed the counsels them to appear in next hearing fixed on March 15 with full preparations.
Prosecution counsel pleaded to summon probe report prepared by police as suspicions persist that the accused, Abdul Rahim Shah, would have been protected in the case. He also complained that the police was not carrying on investigation properly into the murder case.

During the hearing, defence counsel apprised the court that the accused, Abdul Rahim Shah, challenged the inclusion of the anti-terrorism acts in the First Investigation Report (FIR) filed against him.
The counsel sought to club both petitions for the hearing which was later accepted by the high court.
The hearing was adjourned till March 15.

A video had surfaced on February 8 – 2019 which shows a man, identified as Irshad Ranjhani, lying in the pool of his blood. Surrounded by onlookers, Shah, can be heard claiming in the video that he was a “robber” and “carrying a weapon”.
On February 9, the initial investigation report into Irshad Ranjhani murder case had revealed that the political worker was booked in four criminal cases.
The investigation team found the criminal record of Ranjhani, who was killed by Union Council (UC) chairman Abdul Rahim Shah in city’s Bhains Colony area.
