Sharjeel Memon declares assets worth millions of rupees

KARACHI: Fulfilling requirement of the election commission to unveil all assets details, former Sindh information minister and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader Sharjeel Memon joined scores of election candidates in submitting all the details of his assets.

According to the documents Mr. Memon submitted before the ECP, the PPP leader and his wife own an apartment each in Dubai worth Rs50 million and Rs98.9 million respectively.

The documents also list three cars owned by Memon that are worth Rs39,570,000.

The PPP leader also claimed he had Rs87,091,389 in cash and prize bonds.

Furthermore, the documents stated that his furniture and miscellaneous items were valued at Rs2.5 million.

The documents further stated that Memon had two properties in Karachi and one in Tharparkar valued at Rs4.4 million, Rs9.7 million and Rs150,080,000 respectively.

On June 19, PPP’s co-chairperson Asif Ali Zardari revealed that he has total assets worth around Rs758.66 million.

The senior politician has a number of agricultural properties in Nawabshah, Larkana and Tando Allahyar areas apart from around 7,400 acres of farmland obtained on lease in Tando Allahyar, Matli, Badin and Nawabshah.

Asif Zardari has three Toyota Land Cruisers, two BMWs and one Toyota Lexus – all bulletproof. The cost of the unspecified number of horses and cattle belonging to him has been put at Rs 9.9m and he possesses arms and ammunition worth Rs16.60m.

He holds Rs209m cash in hand, Rs89.76m deposited in a private bank.

Besides, the former president also has two properties in Clifton valued at Rs111.51m, a 2,000 square yards plot in the Defence Housing Authority, Karachi, purchased for Rs850,000 and a house in Nawabshah worth Rs22.56m.
