ISLAMABAD: The upper house of the parliament issued notifications stipulating PTI’s Shibili Faraz and PML-N’s Raja Zafarul Haq as the leader of the House and the leader of the opposition in the Senate, respectively.
Pakistan Muslim League leader Raja Zafarul Haq has replaced Pakistan Peoples Party Sherry Rehman on the post of Senate opposition leader as per the new announcement by the Senate Secretariat.
A day earlier, Prime Minister Imran Khan appointed party legislator Shibli Faraz as leader of the house in Senate.
According to a letter sent to the Senate Secretariat by Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs, the PM appointed Shibli Faraz to represent the government in the upper house of the parliament.
Elected to the upper house in March 2015, Shibli Faraz also serves as chairperson of Senate’s special committee on circular debt and commerce and textile.
Meanwhile, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) also nominated Raja Zafarul Haq as its opposition leader in Senate. The PML-N sought to replace PP’s Sherry days after the election for prime minister in the National Assembly.
