Senate committee passes amended PPO bill

ISLAMABAD: Standing Committee of Senate for Interior approved the amendments in Pakistan Protection Ordinance (PPO) on Wednesday, ARY News reports.

The meeting of the senate committee was presided by Senator Talha Mehmood in the National Assembly building.

Pervaiz Rasheed, Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting, said that the person who will violate the law will be held accountable.

“Incidents such as Model Town take place in several countries frequently. The matter will be cleared when the joint investigation will be completed”, he said.

It was also decided in the meeting that 15 grade officers would be empowered under the law to issue orders for shooting.
