JHELUM: The police on Wednesday claimed to have arrested prime accused Urfan Sharif, father of a British girl who was found dead in Woking on August 10,  ARY News reported citing sources.

Sources privy to the development told ARY News that police have arrested the father, stepmother and uncle of British girl Sara Sharif from Azad Kashmir after a month-long manhunt.

The arrest of Urfan Sharif, Sara’s father, Beinash, stepmother, and Faisal Malik, Urfan’s brother, came a day after a Jhelum court handed over Urfan’s five children to the Child Protection Bureau.

The children were found living with Urfan’s father.

However, the Jhelum police have denied arrests of trio in the murder case.

The trio had fled the UK with the children on August 10 soon after Sara Sharif died of ‘unnatural cause’. After arriving in Urfan’s native town of Jhelum, they disappeared to avoid arrest and possible extradition to the UK.

The 10-year-old girl was discovered dead at her family’s Woking house on August 10; the day before, her father and his partner had left the country.

Sara was discovered to have “multiple and extensive injuries” according to post-mortem examinations.
