A heavy contingent of Rangers personnel on Tuesday morning cordoned off Shirin Jinnah Colony near Karachi port and searched some houses after closing all exit and entry points of the locality.
The operation was conducted on a report about presence of criminals and members of the outlawed militant groups in the area, Rangers sources said.
The search operation was continued for three hours, in which 10 suspects were detained, sources said.
Gangster arrested
The personnel of a law enforcement agency in a raid in Hijrat Colony arrested Ayaz Zehri, a commander of a Lyari gang with two accomplices.
The arrested criminals have been affiliated with Wasiullah Lakho group of Lyari gang war, law enforcement officials said.
They were involved in extortion, targeted killings and kidnapping for ransom cases, the officials added.
