According to information obtained from Rangers’ sources, a search operation was conducted at Yousuf Plaza near the city’s Water Pump area. The search operation had been conducted after law enforcement agencies had received reports about criminals being present in the area.
Several suspects were taken to an undisclosed location for questioning. The previous night, a police official was injured when terrorists attacked a police mobile vehicle at the city’s Peerabad area. Police retaliated and took into custody one injured assailant and also seized weapons from him. Two terrorists, however, took advantage of the dark and were able to escape.
The arrested terrorist has been identified as Shaharyar Mehsood and he is affiliated with outlawed Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan’s Sher Khan group. He has been involved in serious criminal cases and further investigations are ongoing.
