LAHORE: Eid holidays are likely to witness heavy rainfall with thunderstorm and gusty winds in Punjab and upper parts of the country as a spell of monsoon season will start on Monday, said the meteorological department.
An official of the department said a westerly wave is likely to enter the upper parts of the country on Sunday evening with monsoon currents to penetrate the country on Monday.
He said mainly hot and dry weather is expected in most parts of the country. However, he added, rainfall with thunderstorm and gusty winds is expected at few places in Malakand, Hazara, Mardan, Peshawar, Kohat, Bannu Zhob, Rawalpindi, Islamabad, FATA, and Kashmir on Sunday evening. Light rainfall is expected at scattered places along Sindh coast during the next 24 hours.
Maximum temperature in Karachi will remain at 35 degrees centigrade with weather to remain partly cloudy. Whereas, temperature in Peshawar will rise to 38 degrees centigrade during the day. The mercury in Quetta and Lahore will remain at 39 and 37 degrees centigrade respectively.
