PUNE: An unfortunate incident occurred in the Kundamala area of Pune on Sunday afternoon when an iron bridge over the Indrayani River collapsed, sweeping away several people.
As per the initial reports, the Pune bridge collapse occurred suddenly, dropping numerous individuals into the river.
The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has rushed to the area, and rescue operations are in progress. Officials have confirmed the deaths of at least six people in the tragic incident, while 10 to 15 individuals are still stuck.
The bridge, located in a busy tourist area, was the centre of frequent visits by the tourists, especially during the monsoon season.
Regarding the Pune bridge collapse incident, Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis conveyed his grief and condolences to the families of the deceased and confirmed that the rescue operation is being carried out at full throttle.

According to the eyewitnesses, overcrowding of the bridge caused the bridge to collapse, with the presence of many tourists at the time of the incident. Authorities are working tirelessly to locate missing people and provide medical assistance to the survivors.
The Pimpri-Chinchwad Police, in collaboration with emergency response teams, are engaged at the moment in a rescue operation, utilising boats and divers to locate any survivors.
This situation is evolving as NDRF authorities conduct an investigation into the cause of the Pune bridge collapse and evaluate the extent of the damage.
