“The PPP wants its handpicked man to be the IG Sindh,” lamented the minister. We won’t name the IG Sindh of PPP’s choice, he added.

In a critical remark, Rafique said Asif Zardari should not talk about corruption. He said the PPP had ruined Sindh with its policies.

Earlier, the minister formally launched the commercial services of modern 4000-Horse Power Freight Engines, imported from US on Sunday.

He said that Pakistan Railways had purchased a total of 55 Locomotives from USA, out of which 14 had reached Pakistan. The remaining will be provided by July this year.

He said that the purchase of these state-of-the-art engines had been done under the Pakistan’s vision 2025, so that the freight share of Railways to be enhanced.

The Minister said that out of fifty five engines, twenty two will be used for transportation of coal to the Sahiwal Coal Power Plant, while the rest will be used for freight trains.

He announced a financial compensation worth Rs 1.2 million and Rs 0.9 million for the families of driver and assistant driver of the train respectively. He also announced plots worth five 5 million rupees and job for one person each, for the departed families.
