ECP, in a statement, said that by-election is a constitutional and lawful process and the institution has to follow it. The statement further said that the ECP is responsible for conducting free and fair elections in the country.
“90 days are required for the polls if assemblies are dissolved”, ECP further stated.
It should be noted that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) had announced that their Parliamentarians will resign from their seats in the National and provincial assemblies except Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) legislature to protest against the alleged rigging in the 2013 elections.
