Political decisions are taken at polling stations, not courts, says Abbasi

SIALKOT: Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi on Monday reiterated that ousted prime minister Nawaz Sharif is his leader and will remain so in future.

Addressing a PML-N workers’ convention in Sialkot, the premier said his party has always done politics of serving the masses and resolving their issues.

He hoped the people will give their verdict in favour of Sharif and his party in the next general elections scheduled this year around August.

Abbasi said that the former premier was their leader, adding that the party was intact and united under his leadership.

Slamming the ouster of Nawaz Sharif at the hands of the Supreme Court, he said political decisions are taken at polling stations not the courts.

Earlier in the day, he said the government will work in collaboration with the private sector to utilize the true export potential of the country.

He was addressing at a ceremony of Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

The premier said it was not for the government to do business but to play the role of facilitator in promotion of economic activities in the country.

Abbasi said the government was considering an integrated program to enhance the tax to GDP ratio and in this regard, the inputs of the business community will also be welcomed.

He said the government was also striving to cut the cost of industrial inputs by reducing the tariff of gas and electricity.
