KARACHI: A policeman sustained bullet injuries and was deprived of his cell phone during a robbery attempt near Karachi’s Seaview, ARY News reported on Wednesday.

In a statement, sub-inspector Zaheer said he was walking alongside the road when two unidentified robbers intercepted him and snatched the cell phone.

The robbers opened fire on the cop when the latter stopped, and then managed their escape.

The police said that the injured policeman did not belong to the South Zone while further investigation was underway. The injured cop was performing his duty at a foreigner’s house.

It is pertinent to mention here that street crimes are rising in the port city with every passing day and no one is safe from the robbers these days, including policemen.

Earlier in June, two Karachi policemen were robbed near Gulshan-e-Iqbal police station.

According to police, dacoits took away two pistols and a motorcycle from the two cops including an assistant sub-inspector (ASI) and a constable.

Upon contact, the Gulshan police said they have identified the robbers and will recover the valuables soon that’s why they have not registered the case.
