BANNU: A policeman was martyred while ten other people suffered injuries when a remote-controlled bomb went off near Bannu’s General Bus Stand on Friday.
According to rescue and police sources, the remote-controlled blast targeted a police van, killing at least one policeman while injuring 10 other people.
The explosion also caused damage to the vehicles parked close to the site of the blast.
Following the explosion, a strong contingent of security forces swarmed the spot, cordoning it off to collect evidence.
A police official said three policemen were among those injured in the bomb attack.
Rescue teams shifted the injured to District Headquarters Hospital Bannu for medical attention. The identity of the martyred policeman couldn’t ascertained immediately. There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the terrorist attack.
