According to Police, the incident took place near the rural area of Chaki Shanawi at Sariab Road, where unknown men opened fire at ASI Aziz-ur-Rehman and severely wounded him.
He was taken to Civil Hospital but did not survive and succumbed to his wounds. The motive for the killing could not be ascertained. Police handed over the corpse to his heirs and have started an investigation.
