ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan will embark on a visit to Iran and China on April 21 and April 25 respectively.

During his visit of Tehran, PM Khan is expected to meet Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and President Hassan Rouhani. This will be Imran Khan’s first visit to Iran since he assumed office last year in August.

The premier’s trip to the neighbouring country is aimed to cement bilateral ties and promote unity among the Muslim Ummah.

Prime Minister Imran Khan will visit China on April 25. During his four-day visit, the premier will meet Chinese president Xi Jinping and his Chinese counterpart.

Multiple memorandums of understanding (MoUs) in energy, infrastructure and other sectors would likely be inked. Besides, CPEC and other mutually beneficial projects will also be discussed.

Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Finance Minister Asad Umar, Planning Minister Makhdoom Khusroo Bakhtyar and Shipping Minister Ali Zaidi will be accompanying PM Khan.

This would be Khan’s second visit to Beijing since he came to power.

The prime minister will also meet Chinese leadership and members of business community to encourage them to explore investment opportunities in Pakistan.
