ISLAMABAD: A statement about killing of 23 security men caused deadlock in talks with Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), as the government called off its meeting with Taliban negotiators scheduled to be held today, ARY News reported on Monday.
Mohmand Agency Taliban had claimed that they have killed 23 men of the Frontier Constabulary (FC) taken captive in year 2010.
Khalid Khorasani of the TTP Mohmand Agency had claimed in a statement that the 23 FC men were killed to avenge the killing of Taliban.
After the announcement the government committee has decided not to hold talks today and informed the Taliban committee about its decision.
The government committee has expressed reservations after the killings and said the talks process could not move forward after such incidents.
A member of the state committee has stated ARY News that the talks will not resume till clarification from TTP about killings. Maulana Samiul Haq, the coordinator of Taliban committee, has been formally informed about the decision.
Journalist Rahimullah Yousufzai, a member of the government committee, said it was necessary to discuss the killings with the government before the meeting of the two committees.
Taliban sources have also confirmed that the meeting, scheduled to be held today, has been postponed.
