The battle between the medical associations and the KP government has now transformed into showdown among patients and doctors.

The medical practitioners in KP are protesting against recently-imposed Essential Services Act in hospitals.

Khyber Pakhtunkhuwa (KP) government had fired 16 health workers and doctors under the implementation of Essential Service Act. The medical staff at Lady Reading Hospital in Peshawar were observing strike and remained absent from their respective duties that provoked the administrative action under the law.

The KP government has warned that there is no guarantee for striking employees to continue their service. Meanwhile, special advisor to PM, Ameer Muqam also reached Hayatabad to hold talks with protesting doctors.
