ISLAMABAD: The Foreign Office on Thursday stated that Pakistan was not engaged in any talks with the proscribed Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), ARY News reported quoting FO spokesperson.
“Pakistan will not negotiate with individuals who are responsible for the killing of Pakistani civilians and law enforcement officials,” the Foreign Office Spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch said at a weekly press briefing, referring to an earlier statement of Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari.
She was responding to queries regarding the statement of the spokesman for Afghanistan’s Taliban government, Zabihullah Mujahid who offered mediation between the Pakistan government and TTP.
FM Bilawal Bhutto Zardari had in January this year said that Pakistan’s leadership will not hold talks with terrorist organisations that don’t respect the country’s laws and the Constitution.
While responding to the Greece tragedy, she said Pakistan was constantly in touch with the Greece authorities on boat capsizing incident and investigations are going on regarding the circumstances that led to the incident.
The spokesperson said Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari had also spoken to his Greek counterpart to discuss arrangements for the recovery of the missing, identification of the bodies and providing relief to the survivors and our efforts will continue in this regard
Turning to the prevailing situation in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, she said the international community commemorated World Refugee Day this week which is a reminder of the suffering of Kashmiris, who have been evicted from their land and forced to live in exile.
Mumtaz Zahra Baloch reiterated that Pakistan will continue to extend political, diplomatic and moral support to our Kashmiri brothers and sisters for the just and peaceful settlement of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute in accordance with the UN Security Council resolutions.
