They were unbeaten in the tournament till the semi-final stage (competing with teams from countries like Canada where the first language is English) and won all eight of their preliminary rounds against different teams which included Ireland, South Korea and Peru.
WSDC is annual event held between teams from different nations and and Pakistan is participating in it since 1991.
Pakistan’s team comprised of Aitchison’s Asad Zafar Haider, Hamza Tariq of Lahore Grammar School (LGS) Paragon, Hassan Qaiser from Salamat International Campus for Advanced Studies, Taha Masud of Westminister School and Zainab Hamid from Karachi Grammar School (KGS) and coach Sofyan Sultan.
Pakistan has qualified for the final of World Schools Debating Championship twice and has won the ‘Best Team with English as a Second Language Award’ five times as well.
The final of WSDC 2015 will be contest will be contested Singapore and Canada, who defeated Australia in the championships.
