Pakistan wants peace, stability in region: PM

In a statement before his departure to Kathmandu, Mr. Sharif said, “We want to transform SAARC into a strong trade and economic bloc on the pattern of European Union.”

This, he said, is possible only in an environment of peace and economic cooperation.

According to Foreign Office, PM Sharif will lead the Pakistani delegation in the SAARC conference.

The prime minister, in his address, will present the vision for peaceful and developed South Asia.

He is also expected to meet leaders from Nepal, Maldives, Bhutan, Afghanistan and Sri Lanka along with other states as well. PM’s advisor on National Security and Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz has said that the meeting of Pakistani and Indian PM Narendra Modi has not been scheduled as yet.
