LOS ANGELES: Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United States, Sardar Masood Khan, concluded a transformative three-day visit to California, marking a significant milestone in enhancing bilateral cooperation and strengthening ties between Pakistan and the Golden State.
During his visit, Ambassador Khan engaged in high-level discussions with California’s top leadership, including a pivotal meeting with Lt. Governor Eleni Kounalakis. Both sides expressed a mutual commitment to deepen cooperation in various sectors, with a particular focus on agriculture, technology, and energy.
Ambassador Khan’s discussions with Lt. Governor Kounalakis yielded promising outcomes, as they agreed to tap into the full potential of the Punjab-California Sister-state relationship, aiming to bolster collaboration in agriculture and beyond. Lt. Governor Kounalakis also extended support for showcasing Pakistani content on platforms like Netflix, fostering cultural exchange and strengthening people-to-people ties.
Addressing the World Affairs Council of Orange County, Ambassador Khan emphasized Pakistan’s pivotal role as an economic bridge between the United States and China, advocating for increased understanding and collaboration between the three nations.
Highlighting Pakistan’s investment opportunities, Ambassador Khan invited California to explore avenues of investment in sectors such as IT, energy, agriculture, and minerals. He underscored the existing bonds between Pakistan and the United States, particularly in the tech sector, where Pakistani tech exports reached $1.4 billion last year.
Ambassador Khan’s visit also included strategic engagements with prominent entities such as Dorsey and Whitney LLP, where he received insights into international practices, and a visit to SpaceX Headquarters and the Starlink facility, where he lauded the spirit of innovation and technological advancement.
Throughout his visit, Ambassador Masood Khan reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to women’s empowerment and education, highlighting various initiatives aimed at fostering collaboration with the United States, including a $19 million allocation to streamline Pakistan’s higher education system.
With a diverse array of meetings with officials, elected representatives, and community leaders, Ambassador Masood Khan’s visit underscored the growing importance of Pakistan-California relations and laid the groundwork for future cooperation and partnership between the two regions.
