Pakistan reiterates support to UN in addressing issues being faced by women

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has reiterated its support to the United Nations(UN) in addressing the issues being faced by women around the world.

Speaking at the annual session of the United Nation-Women executive board session in New York, Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the world body Dr Maleeha Lodhi said the founding father of Pakistan Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah had strongly advocated the role of women in the development of the country.

Maleeha Lodhi said the world is rapidly changing and women are now claiming their fundamental rights in society as well as at work places.

The forum on this occasion reaffirmed its pledge to implement United Nation-Women strategic plan and the Beijing platform for action.
