Notice submitted in Punjab Assembly against torture on Lahore woman

LAHORE: A call attention notice was submitted in the Punjab Assembly on Wednesday against brutal torture on a woman by her husband Lahore’s Defence area, ARY News reported.

The notice was submitted by Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) MPA Uzma Bukhari.

According to the text of the notice, “a lady named Asma was barbarically tortured by her husband in C-Block of Defence, Lahore.”

The House should be apprised of probe about the incident incident and action be taken against the accused involved in it.

Meanwhile, Minister for Human Rights Shireen Mazari has also taken notice of the incident and said the accused in the case had been arrested by the police.

A woman in Lahore was allegedly subjected to vicious torture and her head was shaved by her husband as she refused to dance in front of his friends.

The affected woman, who identified herself as Asma Aziz, alleged in a video message, that her husband Mian Faisal along with his companions beat her with iron pipes, shaved her head, and threatened to strangle her when she denied dancing in front of them.

Asma said that her husband with the help of house workers shaved her hair and set it on fire. She also said she was beaten routinely by her husband whom she had married four years ago.

“Somehow I managed to escape from the house the next day to the police station”, Asma said and added she was asked for money and not even given a registration slip against the complaint she filed at the police station.
