No threat to democracy on Qadri’s arrival, says Gillani

KARACHI: Former Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gillani has said that democracy will not be threatened if Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) Chairman Dr. Tahir-ul-Qadri returns to the country, ARY News reports.

Speaking to media after visiting Sindh Minister for Women Development and Special Education Rubina Qaimkhani in hospital, Syed Yousuf Raza Gillani said that Qadri’s arrival to Pakistan poses no threat to democracy.

“The democratic process will be strengthened due to Qadri’s steps”, he said.

Gillani further said that the actions of Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) will weaken state institutions. He said that speculations will end if the institutions are strengthened.

He added that the government had not taken the Parliament into confidence regarding Zarb-e-Azb  operation in North Waziristan however they will support every good step taken by them.
